My pc has this weird glitch where anytime I install or uninstall a Steam game my headset microphone (Logitech G933) mutes, and I can only unmute it again after a couple of seconds. It's been this way for the longest time (though not always) and I have not the slightest fucking clue what could be causing it. Anyone else ever heard of something like this?

Like systemwide mute? Not just the Steam voice chat?

@Pyjong Yeah it actually hardware mutes the mic, as if I pressed the mute button on the headset, that's what makes it so weird.

My guess so far is that it somehow interferes with the Logitech game software or something.

Hummm. Would this happen on my machine I'd try writing a simple C program that would open the mic for use and then run it at the time when this happens, then see what the error code is. Not saying that's gonna fix it, it may help to tell what the problem is.

Throw that shit out and buy a non usb headset, they all are equally dumpster fire'esque bad.

@JoshBent Ssssure, way better than most motherboards' onboard analogue audio tho

++ for logitech, love the brand. Steam can be a bitch when it want to

@LucaScorpion you'd be surprised how full of shit your sentence is, but alright lol, good luck choking on all those cheap usb headset cards.

I personally own the same headset as well as it's younger brother the 633, they both do this when installing and uninstalling any program on steam. I have also noticed it doesn't require the mic to actually be in use, only to be active, as in having it down. I have noticed it doesn't happen when the gaming software is not active. It doesn't seem to be an edge case as far as forums are concerned with it. But no one knows how to fix it.

To weigh in on the debate of usb headsets vs audio jack headsets, for me it's the compact of having a single plug into my PC.
