Can I just ask why the fuck wouldn't someone support females in the industry?

@hidden unfortunately there are some "elitist" people out there that think females are less intelligent.
  • 1
@developerTom people who call them 'elitist' are dumb!
  • 4
@codercode are you saying I am dumb or people that believe in that mentality?

    Way to go πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I fully support women in any industry especially tech.
Wife's very active with Rails Girls community and I'm very proud to work next to her.

It seemed like the woman of DevRant haven't been as vocal as they were early on. I fear we scared them away. Anyone else observe that? Hopefully I'm wrong.

@shittywebdev Still here and contributing! Hopefully other women are as well. ;)

I support women in our line of work, if you know what you're doing it doesn't matter if you are male or female. Now that being said I have seen bad examples of women in our work in college always flirting to get somebody to do the work for them, those kinds are the ones that screw over the true women workers.

I hate the idea of diversity. I love the idea of skills, experience and such.

I think more women should get into tech, it's damn interesting to work with. My girlfriend has begged me to teach her the basics, probably should take some time of to do so. I find that women tend* to have more creative solutions, at least that's what I've experienced..

    * not generalising.. I hate feeling that I have to be politically correct.. :/ sadly happens that people get mad because of something like that.

TL;DR: join tech ladies, it's fucking great!!!

Always supporting codettes, but so far, i only had unfortunate encounters

Go ladies! We need more of you, worked in a team where the only female mind was the designer, total shit show. Any good product needs both male and female minds working on it

    woman actually do code well.
at least the great majority of Dev woman , and they are generally better devs than man.
dated a Java Dev for a few months, and she was a bomb! in any way haha
  • 1
by the way, are you in the picture?
  • 1
Who doesn't support women in STEM?
  • 2
@developerTom nope i am calling the people dumb who look down towards woman!
  • 1
    @codercode oh ok ☺️

Actually I'd have to give ++ because I would want more women in STEM.
But: I don't like the facebooky, like-needy clickbait rant you posted.
I don't want to see stuff like that.
Even worse, because it seams to be working.

The fact I get down voted for a pro-female dev comment says a lot about what issues we face in our industry
  • 4
using your gender to get ++, that's sexist!!!
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
above is a joke please don't kill me

I wouldn't call myself a lady - curse worse than a sailor for one! But am proud to be the only (and possibly first?! I'ma check that on Minday...) female dev at my company.

Are this female you all refer to human type? They have my support by default as they should at least by all other animals that share the same type. Any of us humans should expect support from any fish type. Male or female.

My daughter is 11 and she writes JS - so there! Way to go ladies.

@shittywebdev Still here! :-) Love the stuff here. Although once, someone said something about whether I liked boobs, and I thought to myself "my own, I guess".

Sorry but this is a ranting app. I absolutely support woman in dev industry and we shouldn't judge someone's skills based on their gender.

But what you guys doing here is pure attention seeking. We are here to post or read rants that we feel in own dev life day to day. Not some "I am a woman and please support me"

    Sorry if I'm too harsh

@tahnik I get what you're saying and I agree that at its core, DevRant is for rants but there have been many other posts that are not rants and have been generally accepted. For example, programming jokes, weekly question, computer setup pics and sticker pics.

@dfox, maybe we should have the ability to flag a post as a non-rant and folks that only want to see rants could filter their results.

While I support women in the industry. I don't believe that this post is deserving of upvotes.

@hidden seriously? First months as a developer was truly nightmare. After half a year they have started to accept me.
  • 3
@mette I dint get accepted to the bro clique even after 3 years at my first company. They were different. The next company I joined was so inclusive and fun. Keep looking till you find your . ^_^ Look for teams/companies with a lot of diversity.
