asgs112758ywell, there's no preference as such. No single language stands out as the best. Try a bunch of languages and stick to what you like and/or you're comfortable with. Also, it depends on job opportunities and what your employers demand. That said, C++/Python are fine languages to begin with. I'd say you go ahead and learn any JVM language (Java/Scala/Kotlin), any recently introed Systems programming language (Go, Rust). And most of all, you need Web dev skills as well (HTML5/CSS/JS), eventhough you don't like Front-end dev.
Spend some time and find out for yourself what you like and what you want to do. That way, you'll know what to stick with. -
You should really read a rant posted yesterday about how a 29 year old became a developer. In short its never too late.
