That's the best Linux distro for beginners?

    I like lots of things about lots of distros, but Ubuntu is probably most straightforward and best supported for a beginner.

    @chasb96 I'm not a big fan of Unity. I prefer GNOME.

    If you come from Windows, I'd say Kubuntu will make you fall in love with Linux the fastest.

    If you're interested in doing some stuff with this machine and want to install stuff like you do in windows, Fedora is the one you need. Its RPM (package management) could be used to install stuff to the system just like any other Windows installer, just take care good care of the dependencies too. Rest of the interface is also cool and later if you get more familiar with Linux you'll not want to get any other distribution.

    Give elementary OS a shot. You might start liking Linux sooner..
