For those of you scared of the ZOMG imminent threat of AI.....

In Spanish, in particular to the way it is spoken in Mexico, we know curly hair to be called "chino" or "chinos" in certain places. This is funny because Chino is actually what we call Chinese people.

So. The other day I mentioned in a friend of mine's post the text "pinches chinos" in regards to the pain of having curly hair(which I also have) during windy days.

FB being the retarded piece of shit that it is took it as hate speech, pinches chinos can be roughly translated to "fucking curly hair" in this regard, but because FB is retarded as all fuck it took it as me spewing some hate speech again'st their Chinese overlords.

I normally wouldn't give a fuck, if it weren't because one of my friends is celebrating their birthdays today and I can't post shit on his wall due to me being on facebook jail.

I have known this dude since I was 6, currently 29, but no, FB decided that I was some racist prick somehow and because of that I can't go ahead and post something to him. Its fine, I was still capable of calling him and celebrating with my boy, but still.

An AI will not be able to detect the difference between a fucking cat and a lion, it is shitty technology, it is interesting because of the math behind it, but seriously, not something to be scared about, skynet is far from coming into existence.

Fuck FB and fuck people scared about AI and deep learning

    Only thing I'm afraid of right now is the border patrol. 😆 I left El paso to get away from those fucks.

    @SortOfTested why should you be afraid of them tho?

    @AleCx04
    They're a who's who of people who were too fringe, arbitrarily violent and racist for Alaska. My uncle used to be one of them before he got caught taking evidence narcotics for personal use, I've dealt with them enough for one life. Aaand now they're deployed here as "peace keeping forces."

    My cat just is a small lion though. Basically.

    Wait so Facebook actually auto censors hate speech? That’s crazy! Mostly because someone has to decide what constitutes hate speech or in this case... even worse... software has to decide. All software is written by drunk people. It would be slightly less crazy it if could accurately detect hate speech (again what constitutes that, clearly any anti-north-Korean, anti CCP is CLEARLY hate speech and so is voicing support for GOP candidates) but for example there are political ideas that I think are electric chair worthy. Can I not express that?

    @FrodoSwaggins how did you of all people not know this yet 😅

    @AleCx04 i wonder what would've happened if you had sent that over a different messenger with just facebook open in the background. I read an article a while back that claimed they were working on a software that would allow them to detect keypad presses from other apps, allowing them (and the fbi) to circumvent any sort of message encryption the app your using may have by detecting what you typed right at the source of input.

    I don't know how much truth there was to it, I already wasn't using facebook so discovering whether it was fake news or not wasn't all that important, but it still makes me wonder. Any case your lucky it was just facebook jail and not actual jail. I feel like that won't be the case for much longer 🙄

    Simply delete your fb account and you're all good

    @M1sf3t woah. That is distorted and should be illegal
  • 1
    @piratefox well it would be if they weren't sharing the info with the ppl that decide what's legal and what's not. But like i said, it could've been fake news, i deleted my fb account back when i found out they were doing this auto sensor bullshit so it wasn't really worth digging into

    @M1sf3t yeah I mean if it is true it should be illegal, my bad for not specifying :P

    About the illegal but they are giving data to lawmakers... Yeah, it's true but this makes it even worse in my point of view.
    I used to feel stupid because I cannot stand most points of modern life, but the more I read and study, the more I feel like it's stupid to not react to them... It's sad to highlight this, but... Black mirror is not a distopy, black mirror is the present.

    @M1sf3t shouldn’t surprise you, I don’t use Facebook. Haven’t for 8 years.

    @M1sf3t good luck with that fb, I doubt they will ever get that to work on iOS. The sand boxing is insane

    @FrodoSwaggins yea i was just reading about it earlier when i was trying to find the article. Seems they have slacked off some since the jobs era tho. It would work on any apps grouped with facebook
  • 1
    @M1sf3t I head the other way around. Its way more insane now than it ever was.

    Just make an alt account called pickle chungus junior or something
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins might be, thats just from what i read in after a few minutes of browsing

    @yellow-dog i would laugh my ass off if they blacklisted his device and that didn't work

    A few years ago our Systems Engineering professor was talking about the same topic of the infeasibility of AI being a significant threat, stating that computers are not even capable of comprehending simple concepts like an infinitely recurring decimal.

    All they do is approximate it good enough for practical uses, kind of like that nerd in school who doesn't understand jack shit about the subject but can memorize enough to get a good grade.

    You can teach the machine all sorts of tricks and smarts but it will always be surface-level smarts.

    And I thought Chinos were a kind of trousers/pants.

    @d4ng3r0u5 you might have heard it from someone at one point. I personally have not heard it, but it wouldn't surprise me, there are some words used by the many dialects that catch me off guard. For example, Puerto Ricans (some) call trucks or busses "guagua" which in English sounds like "wawa" and I know of some Cubans that do it the same way. Common to their dialect, foreign to others.

    Language is a funny, but very interesting thing.

    @d4ng3r0u5 yea its a type of casual dress slacks if I'm not mistaken, or at least it used to be. Given the way clothing trends go the style probably has a different name entirely by now tho.

    @d4ng3r0u5 As the cloth itself was originally made in China, the trousers were known in Spanish as pantalones chinos (Chinese pants), which became shortened to simply "chinos" in English. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    @electrineer so it's a racist pant 🤔

    Facebook should indeed ban anyone caught wearing them in a photo then 😈
