@2Large every citizen HAS to go to the army when they’re 18, yes. For men it’s 3 years, and for women it’s 2. But something that actually kinda confuses me is that some people (or all of them idk) have to come back in their mid-30s to 40s and continue doing stuff and then you’re completely done with the army.

(Ik Ik blatant gender inequality blah blah blah i don’t like this either)

@OmerFlame I’ve been to Tel-Aviv. What an amazing sea you guys have there. Also everything smells wonderfully, I actually kept my T-shirt unwashed for some time just so I can smell that again. I often get headaches from smells, but that was different. I don’t know if it’s your palm trees you have there or the sea, but it was amazing.

Also 6 shekel falafel is tasty and bird scooters are everywhere 😂

    @uyouthe Bird scooters?

You came here pretty recently, wow.

I am glad you enjoyed Tel Aviv! However, there is a huge protest over how our country handles the Coronavirus (everyone is dumb, they’re asking “WHERE IS OUR VACCINE” when the entire world is asking for one) and it’s actually tearing our country apart, it’s been pretty fucking violent and off-limits... it actually is so bad that when I’ll have the right to vote, I don’t know who to vote to because all of our politicians are pretty much total shit.
  • 1
@OmerFlame our politicians... nuff said. I’m Russian. Good luck dealing with COVID though, every rich person in the world comes to Israel for treatment, so if there is a nation who can handle all this shit, it’s either you or Japan

@uyouthe believe it or not, our web dev teams are absolutely SHITTERTINS. We have the worst websites, you wouldn’t believe it. We have a Ministry of Education OAuth (closed) API and the login screen and callbacks and whatnot don’t work 90% OF THE FUCKING TIME.
  • 2
@OmerFlame I know, I visited your websites and connected to your public WiFi 😂 Russian internet is one of the fastest in the world for the price, you can easily get a gigabit for like $10/mo. Our websites are usually great too, we have web design mastodons like Artemiy Lebedev and Ilya Birman and countless indie web design studios, but I will give it all away in a blink of an eye for less corruption and a cure for alcohol addiction. Those two things are destroying my country and destroyed it since the beginning of its existence.
  • 3
@uyouthe I already know the alcohol addiction in your country because of Slav memes.

(Sorry if this is a little racist)
Ay blin lada broke again, gonna call my mechanic Vasya for help ay blyat

(Sorry I just think this is a little silly)

@OmerFlame I’m not offended but here’s the obligatory comeback 😂

@2Large warning: if you choose Israel, you might have a hard time to learn the language, we discern between male and female in our language, so you have to make sure you say it right or you will say a wrongly-formatted sentence. (It happens all the time here but we keep up with the conversation)
  • 1
Wow, what a positive thread! Israel sounds nice in contrary to what you hear in the news.
  • 1
@OmerFlame Actually, as of July 2020, men serve only 2.5 years.
  • 0
@NickyBones oh, really? Probably happened because of COVID, idk. I always remember that people told me that you go for 3 years.
  • 1
@OmerFlame The law was passed in 2016. The IDF was fighting it for a few years, and kept men serving for 3 years. But as of now, IDF announced it will be 2.5 years.

@NickyBones wait, are you from Israel? I mean, I don’t see a particular reason for researching on this lol
  • 1
@OmerFlame I wasn't born in Israel, but I spent quite some time there (including army service).
  • 0
@NickyBones oh, cool! Did you work for a company there?

@2Large I'm still a teen so I actually have absolutely no idea lol
  • 1
@2Large There are ~9 months of training before you are assigned to the border, unless something unexpected happens.
Anyway, most soldiers are not combatants.
  • 1
@NickyBones if luck plays nice with me, I want to be assigned to the software part of the military.

Also, did you learn some Hebrew?
