The best feeling is when you get a pile of crap of a handout, you make it even worse and handout it back a week later.

At one of my first dev jobs I replaced someone who was "admitted to a hospital for clinical depression".

Not only should I have recognized it as a red flag that the employer shared medical information about ex-employees, but I also soon found out that mountains of tech debt combined with toxic management and apathetic coworkers was most likely 100% the source of my predecessor's condition.

The comments interspersed between the spaghetti went from typical rant material, to repeated pleas about suicide and mass murder.

I left after 8 weeks, and as my last commit I added a big warning to my successor in the readme, to immediately quit the job in their trial period.

@NoMad all my years in the private corporate sector in a nutshell. Specially the "I don't cent my code because SAP functionality should be your bread and butter". Fuck those cunts and their 12 year old code. I would just comment out all the BS and streamline it.

@Lyym sure, but also should've done that when you were leaving your last job. Lol.

@NoMad I kinda did with the project I was supposed to manage. I just left 1 document, which was half technical half corporate BS. I found out yesterday that the person left in charge of it, and the main developer also quit shortly after sooo *shrug*

@Lyym lol let's see if they try to lure you back in.

@NoMad only if they actually pay me the 189.00 USD/ hour rate they charged my clients as a base salary ;)

They forgot “and here’s our handbook. I’m out”. Should’ve call this “Onboarding” then
