mr-user13494yMaybe you shouldn't use medium/dev.to ?
But can you blame them? They need to do something to attract their content.
Instead of providing good quality content most of them decided to use gif to attract reader since it doesn't take much effort.
I blame meme culture for it. Since social medium are flooded with meme and gif , they think it's a good approach. -
theuser47814y@mr-user I believe other sources (with the notable exception of MDN, thank the lord) are dated jquery based stuff.

mr-user13494y@theuser
No matter how much I hate MDN due to them being overly complicated I don't feel them outdated.
What are you searching for? -
I have a hate-love relationship with GIFs. I hate them more than I love myself or I love them more than I hate myself.
-
theuser47814y@mr-user These days its webcomponents and deno stuff. Maybe I should start skipping straight to page 2 on google searches (unless I'm looking up MDN stuff)
I dislike the direction the Node ecosystem have taken what with frameworks and the resulting behemoths they produce. I am looking into what I'm (hopelessly) hoping is the future, less frameworks and slimmer webpages. -
theuser47814y@F1973 Alright so dick pics will kinda come and go on the internet, so we cannot do the simple solution of bundling together a couple of urls to different dick pics as they will probably disappear over time. What we need is for someone to either CDN a collection of dicks for us to replace or we need someone to pattern recognise a dick from google images.
Will create a collab later -
theuser47814y@linus-torvald As a responsible stakeholder, I will remind you that we only need a few random dicks to replace memes on medium articles. This sounds like an escalation of the initial requirements.

I love gifs for expressing things.
I hate them in technical stuff when I'm trying to learn. -
@F1973 That may be a thing already, but I'm not quite sure what IBM is doing lately.
Shit guys, I cannot even begin to tell you about how tired I am at seeing gifs at every single.fucking frontend article. I cannot enter a single Medium/Dev.to without it being plastered in the most random fucking gifs you have ever seen.
Its bad enough that your average Medium/Dev.to is as shallow as the little puddle you spill on the floor after watering your cactus. With the added gifs, it just sucks so bad. I mean, who's fucking idea was it to plaster reading material with distracting content anyway? I wanna hunt them down and shove something right up their arses.
Back in uni when I started dabbing into frontend, my feeble brain thought it was quite refreshing after peering over java docs every day. Nowadays though, I cannot even manage to read these mostly shitty arse articles without wishing I was dead.
Also, I wonder if this is also the case for the java, .net, python, rust community?
