    Automatic versioning? What is that?

    Visual Studio is the alcoholic, crazy, high-school dropout older brother of vscode

    Soul satisfying rage.

    GOOD FUCKING RANT.

    Don't listen to OP, this is total misinformation. Microsoft is a trillion dollar company, not billion.

    I THINK THERE IS A METHOD TO THE MS MADNESS. ALL THEY DO IS SHIT AND IT WORKS GREAT FOR THEM. SHIT IS CHEAP AND THEY SELL IT FOR BILLIONS.

    @iiii
    This is called a rant.
    Let him unleash his anger.

    This guys sole beef is Visual Studio apparently.

    Don't forget you need to re-register it, or whatever its called, call home every month or it gets unhappy..

    At least with the community version you do, I dunno about the professional version..

    I did ring MS (Shock horror!) and after being passed from pillar to post, no one actually knew if the professional version worked like that too..

    I wasn't about to buy something expensive, if it had the exact same issue the free version had !

    Also, don't forget folder and file name length issues, easy to exceed them, especially important for backups ! (Some fail with names too long, some backup, but then won't restore..)

    @iiii looks like he did but while it was on

    This awesome post motivated me to create an account rather than just read from the bushes lol! I used to use that pile of dogshit (actually that’s an insult to dogshit) and spent hours googling for obscure error messages and not getting a single simple thing done! It’s like you need a fucking phd in visual studio to create hello world!

    @Nanos oh yes. Those virtual folders in VS are so ridiculous!

    @d-fanelli

    What do you use now ?

    I also love the way it will hog your C: and internet connection whilst it downloads updates.. (Can't it do that when you check for updates, rather than pre-fetch them, or is there a setting for that ?)

    i never understood people shitting on VS.

    never had any of the issues they complain about.

    also, debugging goes into files that contain code that's running, not files that you've used recently. or am i missing something?

    @Midnight-shcode blackboxing is a very recent feature in Visual Studio, our dear ranter may not have heard about it.
  • 1
    For whatever reason recent versions of vs run like shit, specially when debugging razor projects.

    @jvillavi 19 ran 4 times as fast on virtualbox than 17 while debugging MVC, did 20 undo that?

    @Lor-inc My vs 2019 install runs dog slow, maybe is my box...
  • 0
    @Lor-inc i haven't heard of it either

    @jvillavi
    ... INSTALL?

    more likely it's your internet since the default installer is the 5meg thingy that downloads the rest 4 to 15gigs (depending on features you selected) at the same time as it's doing the install.

    but, more importantly,wtf?
    (install performance != app performance) && (install performance == irrelevant)

    @Midnight-shcode Hi, forgive me for my broken english. Install as in installed copy, running application, etc

    @jvillavi That sentence was correct though, if a bit ambiguous.
