My dev mates are all gone for Xmas
Before one of them left we hugged.

He said:gonna get laid tonight, I'm going to be all out of orgasms
Me:YOU CANT SAY THAT WHILST YOUR HUGGING ANOTHER MAN!

Wtf is wrong with my friends

They like to freak me out by saying awkward things in uncomfortable situations

PS I don't hug people like ever I was trying to be nice 😕

Is hugging your bros still a thing? In this era where we have the third (and maybe forth?) gender, handshake is safer.

@setyadi it was like, see you in the new year he was all tipsy and went come on man bring it in. So I went... Sure man... Trying to be nice

@FitzSuperUser Friendly hug shouldn't be more than 500 ms. The way you told the story, it seems that you hugged him much longer. :/

@setyadi yeah once your in a hug... If the other person wants to maintain the hug... Your not in an easy position to say no.

@Letmecode I was just trying to be polite it's Xmas and I wouldn't see him in a while

Apart from one's personal issues with hugging/touching i think it is okay to "hug your bros" really, but it all depends on the kind of relationship you have with that person.

In my not-so-humble opinion, people these days have gotten so afraid of looking/feeling gay that they have to repress expressions of fondness because I guess something as innocuous as a hug has been sexualized.
You can't be close friends with another guy without being accused of having a "bromance". And people say it as if you're supposed to either feel shame for it or take extra precautions to make sure people know there's nothing gay going on. It's a shame, really.

    @garrettw
    Fully agreed.
At least in my country (Poland) in the generation of our great-grandfatheres (so WWII soldiers mind you) it was customary to kiss on the cheek between man in kinda formal greetings and such.
Also that's kinda ironical that in modern times the "fear to look gay" is such strong given the times are relatively tolerant.

@Arlekin That tells me the tolerance is probably often a forced front.

Whatever gender, I'm a pretty huggish person to be honest!

😂 Guys my issue was never the hug...I can take hugging people. It was what he said during the hug. Granted I'm not a natural hugger a natural fist bump or handshake is far better.

It was fucking weird. To be forced by a mate into a prolonged hug and say that 😂
