For 10 thousand years I have pronounced "Nginx" as "En ginns" just found out from Ubuntu's official page that it is pronouned "Engine-X".
What a shame (-‸ლ)

    Funny. I always pronounced it as 'en-jinks', but apparently I was dead wrong

    @10Dev So did I. Still do, impossible to change.

    I could have sworn I read somewhere official that it was pronounced "En-jinx". I call it Engine-X anyway though, but I thought I was wrong about it.

    N-gin-x. Seems pretty straightforward to my twisted english sensibilities.

    The real question is how do *you* pronounce kubernetes?
  • 3
    I pronounce it as engine x
  • 4
    @10Dev I pronounce it like that too...

    Apparently it is pronounced “engine x”: https://nginx.com/company/...

    @SortOfTested

    I pronounce Kubernetes as coo-ber-neats but also found out it's coo-ber-net-ees (kuba-netis)

    @SortOfTested 'coo-ber-net-ees'. Anything else is wrong

    Queue-ber-neat-as

    @SortOfTested koo-ber-net-is, but it's probably a weird accent thing

    Be edgy, call it "kates".

    @junon ka-tes or kay-tis?

    @junon is this because of the amount of characters between k & s (kubernetis) (8 chars) like i10n for example or the pronouncation? Could almost be both. Or should I finally get some sleep?

    @GiddyNaya, funny probably one of the only tech thingy I pronounced correctly from start seems.

    Maybe your pronouncation is wrong because you actually read the docs instead of lame YouTube stuff.

    Ubuntu has docs? 😂 I always use digital ocean docs for such stuff. They're awesome, their docs always work on a clean installation

    @rooter Because of the number of letters.

    @10Dev same bro lmao

    I learned my lesson quickly from my friend lmao

    @junon sigh, not funny because it's true. I started to hate NoSQL and ORMs because people choose to learn the important part. Sql is not like css - of you don't understand sql you're fucked. I'm microservice apps I do use sql. It's bit harder with migrations, but hey, that expensive dba does not exist for nothing. Every company should hire a freelance dba once a week or month imo.. Developers only know 40%. Databases are art. People should take it serious

    I know it's almost a rant but I know you worked at Uber. Xmpp heh, not a bad choice I guess. It has some benefits I guess
