Tayo8984y@mysth hmm I'll go get some tomorrow, don't have any right now, and it's too late to get some 😕
Thanks -
Tayo8984yI'll give the tea a shot, got some nice cinnamon tea recently, maybe that'll help a bit.
It's not really a work related issue, if anything it's anxiety lol. Been having some bad dreams lately. -
hinst13214yA man worrying about being unable to do something is akin to a lion wounded twice. If you can't sleep, don't worry. Just go with it. Watch a movie. The sleepiness will come sooner or later. Or wont.
-
Depends.
If you have constant trouble sleeping, seek help. It will not resolve on it's own and your life might be in danger.
If it's sometimes... Get up. Don:t stay in bed. Bed is for sleeping, not being annoyed of not sleeping.
Try to stay awake on the next day, get some sun (open windows, take a walk outside, ...) and thus get back into the sleeping routine. -
@mysth it's one of the first things you will hear from a doctor when talking about sleeping problems... When your brain associates the bed with work, it's not okay.
;)
You can lookup the term "sleep hygiene". Sounds weird as fuck, but if you have trouble sleeping and ask a doctor, it will come up sooner or later. -
@IntrusionCM Sleep hygiene theory is a myth, and doctors are full of shit, they often push outdated knowledge.
https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/...
The common cause for sleep issues is not behavioral and can't be fixed by ritualistically treating symptoms.
It's often psychological, and should be fixed by treating the source.
My unorthodox, clinically unproven but fucking effective method is to drink mushroom tea. Not a large dose, just about a gram of dried ones.
Psychedelics are very good at one thing: Slapping you in the face with repressed worries, regrets, shame, stress. Have someone sober to watch over you, because otherwise you might pick up your phone, quit your job and sell your house.
Instead, after the session, integrate the experience back into your life in a more mild, rational way. Maybe you should finally start with that hobby, resolve a fight with a friend, or eat healthier.
Again, not proven clinically, but neither is sleep hygiene — and mushrooms at least have plenty of anecdotal evidence of being extremely effective. -
@bittersweet I think you're exaggerating quite a bit.
Sleeping problems or "insomnia"... Is like rheumatism.
A collective term for everything related to sleep. The study you mentioned (skimmed it only so far) already discerns between several different clinical forms of sleeping disorders.
Disorder != problem.
While I agree that sleeping problems might have a psychological background, I really like to separate disorder from sleeping problem - two different entities.
Sleeping hygiene is a loose term and yes, there is no fixed guidebook or sth. like that. It's a recommendation at best.
And getting up when you can't get sleep is really better - at least I only get angry when I can't sleep thx to my health issues, cause staring at the ceiling is quite boring. And working in bed doesn't make it better imho.
Disorder means to me that something is definitely wrong -for whatever reason - and you can't fix it on your own.
Sleeping problem means you can fix it on your own. -
@mysth Yes... Feminine elegance... That is a must.
This is why I just work at the office, at a standing desk wearing my wife's lingerie.
Beds are indeed not for working. They're for orgies. Not great for hygiene, but 4 hours of uninterrupted sex will make you fall asleep without a problem... On the floor, because the bed is full of naked people. -
Tayo8984y@bittersweet that's some wild sexual interaction you've got going on. If that's the only thing that'll get me to sleep easily, I'll have to pass though.
What do you do when you're physically tired, but unable to sleep?
I'm starting to relate to the brain keeping you up meme..
