How many of you drink (too much) or having a drinking problem? And did you try to fix that?

I'm sober for three months and the consequences are huge.

Some say Whiskey officially was a medicine. I believe in that.

All what i have learned: stopping cold turkey was and is not the way for me.

I quit drinking 4 years ago. Best thing I could have done.

For those who can drink "responsibly" more power to you, but that shit isn't for me.

    Now weed and shrooms, however...

I drink alcohol occasionally. In fact I've had two beers yesterday. But I have no drinking problem whatsoever.

And I hate strong spirits, they taste awful.

@HiFiWiFiSciFi I cheat on myself with the 'no home drinking' rule by making others enthousiast to join me to a bar.

BUT IF i drink at home - i make sure it's the only the max amount of what i should drink. Still cheating with strong beers. BUT: i have often the power to just flush the last one if i think i had enough.

It's a struggle. @HiFiWiFiSciFi i think i can say that someday too. Because now being sober for so long i feel like a superman but just the cold turkey quitting made me bit... Crazy. Respect for you dude.

If you have any tips, all is welcome

@iiii agree about strong spirits. I only drink draft beer and wine does not exist in life.

In my opinion you can drink every day without having an 'alcohol problem'. It's more than that. Not only the quanitity

    I just disinfect internal injuries

Used to drink, my father died of alcohol and haven't been able to drink ever since.

Horrible death, the media makes it look like it's peaceful etc but I bet that if it was portrayed appropriately about 90% of the drinkers would stop πŸ˜…

No shame on anyone who drinks tho, it's a choice! Just shame on the "oh they died peacefully while sleeping cause it was an alcohol issue" propaganda on movies.

@piratefox Sorry to hear that. Point of my story is that i couldn't stop at once and shouldn't have. I should lower it step by step just like a medicine.

For some reason we don't do that with alcohol. And it is just weird. I can't be the only one for who was that a solid solution.

Maybe i should create a site about it. Alternative method for quitting to drink

@retoor yeah, i feel you. If it wasn't for the trauma it would have been hard to stop... I can relate when I try to stop caffeine

I did not drink any alcohol in my life and never missed it.
I don't see the point in poisoning myself.

    Getting drunk is fun!

@d-fanelli hmm, yes. I'm a happy drunk. But in the end - months - i will get depressed. I have the diagnoses for a bipolar person but maybe i'm just a maniac drinking himself to an depression from time to time.

But yes. It's fun, but other things could be more fun

@retoor hmm well from what I've heard cold turkey is the only way with alcohol. Props for keeping it up!

@Nanos exactly! I had a lot of disposable income for bad habits.

Update on this topic: I drink less than once a week on average without any effort! I dare to say I don't have an alcohol problem anymore! No urges, nothing.

@Nanos habit swapping is important. After quitting drinking: what to do with my spare time? Coding is always great but I did do that while drinking too. My best project is made with a friend drunk
