I hate it when we are discussing a feature and they ask me "what do you think?" after they said how would they go about it and i mention that i would do it differently and think that my way may be longer now but can pay off in the long run and they decline it.

What i hate even more is that after some period they revesit their decision again and come to conclusion that my way is better and now we (i) need to rewrite it but without acknowledging that i said it then and was the best solution.

AMMA KILL SOMEBODY IN THIS BISH RIGHT TF NOW!!

Hahaha classic. The person who rejected your way before probably sincerely believes it was their idea and they're helping you fix your errors.

Pro tip: try sarcastically apologizing / thanking them for fixing your error (without giving a hint with your voice, say it naturally) and see how quickly and naturally they accept and say 'dont worry about it' or something like that. You'll be amazed.

@ArtOfBBQ to be honest, it happened so many times that i just laugh it out and die a bit inside, its just insane.

Don't give your best ideas, see the ship burning, through.

At least They still ask your opinion, some developer doesn't have right to give their opinion. This is the application architecture and just do it no matter you like it or hate it.

@vintprox this is evil & it'd probably backfire

@sladuled To be fair, I didn't say they won't be on that same ship while doing it 🤔 There is no merit in withholding the best ideas if it means *the good cash* or in avenging for what you've given away for free (ideas aren't to be claimed, after all).

@BimaAdi this is worse. You are still not allowed to have an opinion and don't care what you think. They make it seem and maybe even fool you for a bit that they do. That's just evil.

I had this shit happen. However I made a recommendations document. This document was in Google docs so timestamped.
Saved it up and after the 4th time they tried to claim shit as there idea rubbed their faces in it.
Often they did come to it on there own years later and honestly forgot about it...

“Just make it the simple way.”

“I disagree. I am sure we will need a multilanguage, so it makes sense to start building the website such that we use keys instead of writing the actual text in the code.”

    “YAGNI”

    *4 months later*

    “We need multilanguage”
