My mother disowned me when I told you I was bisexual. She told me she had cancer but will refuse to treat it because she wanted to die as soon as possible just to not see me and think of me.

I asked her what’s wrong with being bisexual and her only argument was “it’s a sin”.

I did my coming out on Jan 30 2021, the day SOPHIE died. When it comes to my relationship with my mother, nothing have changed since.

Nevermind. Figured out. You mean that Scottish musician. Sucks for her more I guess. She's dead but you're free.

    Sin = harm.

I can never understand how relationship between some consenting adults can harm anyone.

Harming culture? Well We make the culture.
Harming rules of God? Well I would love to have a discussion with God if He/They feel any harm due to this.

Most people use religion or God as an excuse for homophobia. Well, if the all powerful creator God hates gays, why does He Make them?

More power to you, to be yourself.

Not sure what to say but keep on living your life to the fullest as you desire.

Is that even legal where she resides in?
In some countries, it's illegal to disown kids.

If you're an adherent to philosophies that use words like, "sin" to refer to human behavior that is believed to move the sinner away from God, then you're also called by that same God to love and forgive sinners, and leave the matter of the sin in question between God and the sinner, and nobody else.

In short, there is no Christian belief structure that allows a parent to disown a child for any reason.

    Fight fire with fire.

It's a sin to commit suicide. By not getting treatment, she's sinning.

@RikaroDev @bahua @ostream @sariel she’s not even religious, let alone christian. In both orthodox christian bible (the main bible in russia) and sermon on the mount (the most respected sermon among christians) judging others for whatever they did is a sin. Being anything other than straight became a sin only in later editions of the bible tho, around the time inquisition declared the war on worldviews other than theirs.

She’s just crazy. Batshit crazy. NLP, MLM, compulsive buying and hoarding, manipulating others into blaming themselves to do what she wants kind of crazy.

I never loved her. My childhood was nothing but fear.

And now because of what she did for that past decades I was prescribed benzodiazepines to deal with depression and self-blaming issues.

*rolls eyes* it is that month again, isn’t it.

@kiki bible never says don’t judge other people or it is a sin.
  • 1
@aviophile it says “Не суди и судим не будешь” which literally means “Don’t judge and you won’t be judged [at the gates of heaven]”
  • 1
@ostream I know, I know. It takes time to admit to myself and accept that I don’t really love her
  • 1
@kiki “Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

It simply says you will be judged with the same measure you judge others. It is not “judging others is sin”. Otherwise prisons or punishments for crime wouldn’t exist.

@aviophile you’re right. Though, I’d seen this very statement described in terms of if you judge others, you put yourself in a position higher or equal to god, because only god is entitled to judge.

@ostream what is your solution to people who just killed snother human, beat his wife or stole someone else’s money? We need a justice system after all.
  • 1
@kiki there are few interpretations but “judge bot” might be the most “slam dunk on christians” verse in history 🙂

Continue to be good, she will be very sad if you give up.

@bahua actually part of that was also admonishing the sin not simply forgiving.

There's a difference between forgiving/tolerating something and accepting it.

What Itell people dealing with this sort of thing to do is: it is very difficult to change someone's religious beliefs. And if as part those religious beliefs someone judges you harshly oh, it is better simply let go of them than continue in that relationship.

Nobody cares about right or wrong. Nowadays people just label whatever uncomfortable truth they can't handle as sin

Fun thing, I hear most sin talk from christian-like religions.

But the part about that mind fo sin is on the old testament

And, it is canon that Jesus died for all the sins in humanity to start clean with a new set of rules.

So technically, everything in the old testament is there for historic purposes but no longer applies.

Ask your mom is she wears mixed fabrics, or eats pork, all of that is the old testament.

Sorry about the relationship but if a person is toxic you jave the choice to have them in your life or not, does not matter if it family, blood means nothing.

@EpicofGilgamesh that is because it is easier to get your life rules from.a book or a bearded magician, after you accept those rules, you can just blame everyone but yourself for anything good or bad that happens.

It is the easy life, just follow blindly and nothing is your fault anymore, you don't even have to think about it because it is "all part if the plan".

Seriously I think religions like that were made up to calm stupid people's anxiety, just have the herd under control.
