Any framework which makes the backend serve the layout/styling of the frontend is the worst.

Blade, Jinja, Twig, Wicket, ERB, Haml, etc.

Because there will always be a manager who says "Let's build a mobile/desktop/CLI/whatever app!" which means you're royally fucked.

There should only be a (documented) API. JSON REST, GraphQL, fucking XML SOAP, I don't care.

(OK I take that back, no SOAP pls)

As a backend developer, I don't want any HTML in my repository. I don't even care what kinds of frontends there are.
