My CPU temperature under sustained full load has reached 46°C where it used to be 43°C. That leaves two conclusions: either the thermal paste has gone bad, or summer has started.

    Go outside, nerd.

    Summer has started
You know the pride month explains why there are so many pedophiles around right now
Out and ruining their children proudly

@Root My weather applet says there's the threat of sunshine.

@Fast-Nop Okay, totally fair. I still have PTSD from that.

    Stupid desert.
    Grumble grumble.

    Laughs from Australia,
    Winter is Coming!
  • 10
@C0D4 In Australia, you'd bet on summer with rising CPU temps because opening the PC could expose you to a deadly spider. Actually, 46°C CPU temperature would be normal in Australia even in winter and when the PC is switched off anyway.

    @Fast-Nop
Hmm lets see, from a "cold" boot.
    It's been off all night.

    Temp: 70'c
    Cpu: 48'c
    Hdd: 34'c

This is just from logging in and running SpeedFan, I haven't touched anything yet.

Fans have kicked in a little bit and 5 min later it's sitting with no external cooling.

    Temp: 95'c
    Cpu: 80'c
    Hdd: 39'c
    Gpu: 0

Now to turn on cooling pad (5 fans)

    Temp: 86'c
    Cpu: 56'c
    Hdd: 43'c
    Gpu: 0

And this is just idling with 15 min of uptime 😞

Now if I turn on the laptops fan to high and make it sound like it's about to take off for a few minutes.

    Temp: 43'c
    Cpu: 24'c
    Hdd: 40'c
    Gpu: 0

And this seems to be stable here now.

    Total uptime 20min.

The Gpu doesn't record a temp unless I'm using it.

    It's currently 19'c inside and 10.4'c outside 🤷‍♂️

I've turned off the fans an now it's just idle at:

    Temp: 37'c
    Cpu: 22'c
    Hdd: 34'c

Now to push some heat into it 😏

@C0D4 Uh yeah I mean on my desktop, I got such a fat cooler that it easily dwarfs yo-mama jokes. That's how I get to mid-40s temps under sustained full load - which I've had for days because a computer is supposed to compute shit, after all. ^^

    85 C. No problems.
  • 1
@NoToJavaScript At such temps, I would hear the fans, which is a no-go for me.

You live in Germany right? I have always wondered how hot it gets for you lot over there in Germany.

Had a friend from Cologne in HS and he would absolutely melt here where it is CONSTANTLY over 45 degrees. Our winters are really not winters, we have hot days even there or sort of warm.
  • 7
@AleCx04 Holy shit, I get uncomfy once it gets over 20°C outside. Or sunny. Cold and dark, that's nice.

@Fast-Nop if anyone ever calls you an animal, you can claim that you're a fungus instead.

Why do people hate hot weather? Then again I never understood winter fans...i can’t help but want to move to Africa every time winter hits, after all it’s where every one originated from
  • 9
@TeachMeCode because it’s fucking hot and it makes me weak, sick, headachy, and I pass out.

The cold makes me feel alive.

@Root sorry, I don’t know where you reside, but it’s temperature wise cool here in NY and it’s a strong enough tech area for you. Move here if you’re not already here, just a suggestion. We are in a heat wave, but I’m crazy enough to enjoy it lol. Then again I’m a scrawny, tiny build which helps with heat tolerance

@Root we should trade places lol

    @TeachMeCode I used to live in Vegas. Now I don’t. 😁

Summer Rocks except it makes my groin area damp and smelly

    @Fast-Nop hello, fellow vampire

@Fast-Nop truth be told, I hate the heat. I do not mind Sunny days as long as the sun is not actively trying to get me through a heat stroke.

I was happier in South Korea. It rains there all the time, peninsula level monsoon shit, it was glorious and even though some days were hot, they were nowhere near as hot as where I am. On winter, the coldest I ever was was -14 (I think), and I absolutely loved it

@Root @Fast-Nop @AleCx04 i thought of you during my workout in a not so well air conditioned gym (it was 93 out lol) 😁. But wow @AleCx04 it must suck being in texas during this heat wave, you’re near Mexico? I would melt into butter

@asgs i need some gold bond for my ball sack during this heat wave...
  • 1
@AleCx04 holy shit, Korean weather sounds amazing.
  • 1
Shit is getting worse: now it's 48°C. Good that the CPU cooler has two fans so that there's no shortage of headroom while still staying silent.
  • 2
How far is it from thermal throttling? You could reduce fan speed or amount of fans to make it run quieter and hotter, yet still as fast.
  • 0
@electrineer It's good for up to 95°C, so that's very far away. I could have it run cooler if I hadn't set my bios fan control mode to "minimum" in order to keep shit silent.

That's also the motive behind the two CPU fans which are low speed ones - 100% PWM would only give 800 RPM.

@Wisecrack S.K weather has been my favorite EVER
  • 3
@TeachMeCode North Mexico and South Texas share (for the most part) the exact same weather. The heat doesn't bother me for long periods of time, but it makes it damn near impossible to enjoy certain things outside. There is heat and then there is Escanor level Mario Bros Sun chasing you to kill you heat. That is what we have lol and it wouldn't upset me if it were just during the summer. But damn bro, year round gets boring after a while. I don't even remember what a true Fall, Spring or Winter feels like outside of my memories of Korea

@Fast-Nop if it goes under 40 mph, or 40c it'll explode or something.

Call Keanu. I hear he has experience with these sorts of situations.
