    @tommy BTW, I didn't knew HP did Chromebooks. Can you even develop on one of those?
  • 0
    im guessing you can! but also I like the idea of google coming out with pro books ....at the moment though I have a mbp and thinking about trying out partitioning it so i can try out remix os
  • 1
    Why not put your laptop in a case and put the stickers on the case?
  • 3
    @ScribeOfGoD I don't think there's any case covers for any of my laptops tho I did that when I had a MBP so it didn't leave any glue residue on the "aluminium" (you have to said it as Jonny Ive)

    @tommy Their biggest problem is CPU power to be able to compile but if you have a strong Internet connection I guess you can use an external server for compiling and testing and getting around with using just a text editor on a Chromebook.

    I think you can make a Live USB/memory card of Remix OS. That way you can use it on any PC. Since we're talking about Chrome OS I guess USB 3 won't be a bottleneck since I believe most decent USB 3 pen drives are faster than the eMMC in most smartphones.

    i see what you mean... I cant afford anything any time soon but maybe once i get a job there might be serious computing power in chromebooks... until then im stuck with my basic 2011 mbp no upgrades :(

    @tommy I know it isn't easy - I saved up for a year to buy this laptop - but try to save some money so you can upgrade your Mac. The one I had was a MBP mid 2010 15-inch. I upgraded to 8GB (the max of that model), which is good if you use intensive programs (back then I had a massive Aperture library with pretty much every photo in RAW out of my DSLR) and I replaced the HDD with an SSD.

    Trust me, the SSD is the best 60€ you can spend in your machine. The boot times were almost as fast as sleep times with the HDD and pretty must any app started right up! This was back in Lion, now that Sierra is heavily optimized for SSD based Macs the performance difference must be bigger.

    @milkbytes dang devrant, i wrote a long response but my mouse missed the post button and its all gone :/

    @milkbytes TLDR: I was just saying if my laptop doesnt burn up from heat before I upgrade it, i could install ram (16) and ssd (whatevers cheap) and possibly battery and charger to keep it running until 2020?
  • 1
    @tommy Well, since we're already in 2017, probably. Depends on what you're doing with it and what Apple does with its software updates really. My MBP was still going strong, I replaced it because it was starting to show graphical issues that weren't covered by the recalls and I took advantage to replace it with something smaller and lighter to carry around every day.

    It didn't help much with mine, but you can also clean it and replace the thermal paste (use some good stuff if you want to se results, not that $1 one on eBay from Hong Kong) and see if it helps.

    @milkbytes yeah mine feels like a brick, and sometimes it acts like one LOL

    I have a black case all over so its well protected and looks new but the fan gets loud if i dont watch out for a few things like YOUTUBE easily the worst website because it force the resolution to max and one tab alone with that will push the fan to max...

    @tommy Hard cases - like the ones from Spek - are known to warm the MBP. Tho the vents are at the hinge, the fact that the bottom of the laptop is all aluminum helps dissipating the heat. (And no, this isn't a theory, there are actual threads online on this, just Google it and you certainly will find info on it)

    The guy that's sitting in front of me in class knows a solution to every such problem. I think he'd have an idea. I'll come back to this on Monday.

    I see you have less space for stickers now
  • 1
    @BrianK However I would carry half the weight. For me, that's a win!

    Or wait, I'll just tag him here: @infoscreenrant

    visual studio logo "guess my OS" and on opposite site Apple sticker?? 🤔
  • 0
    I've never put any stickers in my laptop's
  • 0
    @gedankennebel The Apple sticker was just there because I own an iPad. Both my PCs and my phone are running Windows 10, so I'm pretty much living the #WindowsLife
  • 0
    @marje I started with the Visual Studio logo and I ended up with that. The most difficult one is the first one, the rest is just "uh, a new sticker, where do I have space?"

    You can always buy reusable stickers.
  • 1
    @Karthikm I got all my stickers for free, either from companies or from events I've been to
  • 0
    @milkbytes same although im super tempted to get something rick and morty related LOL

    @tommy I want an Evil Corp sticker to cover my HP logo #fs0ciety

    @milkbytes haha havent seen S-02 yet

    @milkbytes also im thinking about getting remix io box it functions as an android tv box then it can switch to android computer... because of budget this will have to serve as console, tv box and casual pc for only 100 -130 bucks!

    @tommy Isn't a compute stick cheaper?
  • 1
    @milkbytes bought the same pricepoint really, but it offers much more :)

    That is the reason we researched and created Reusable stickers which can be removed and reapplied up to 99 times so that you don't have to say good bye to your stickers ☺️☺️ https://juststickers.in/introducing...

    @sumeetchawla I'm not really into paying for stickers but I'll give them a look

    @milkbytes random thought:
    is the Chromebit capable of executing WASM or WebAssembly? Im curious I know that its capable of updates so the device should get better with time ...
  • 1
    @tommy The Chrome OS is based on Linux, there is (or at least it was) a developer mode that let's you access the Terminal therefore updating both the OS, the kernel or BIOS/EFI might not be that hard
  • 0
    @milkbytes I will purchase the chromebit today, the Remix device has a delivery date of June at the latest... so I would rather have a casual pc now :)
  • 1
    @tommy Cool! Have fun with it!
  • 1
    @milkbytes
    i can help you
  • 0
    @infoscreenrant Any suggestion?
  • 1
    good call on removing the case from the mbp!
  • 2
    @milkbytes get some break cleaner and dip the edge of a razor blade in it then go along at about 175degree angle to the surface and do zigzag moves left and right without spilling the break cleaner otherwise they won't stick anymore.
    You can also try geting them of with more break cleaner but then you will have to apply your own adhesive.
    PS have fun with your laptop
    With regards from AUSTRIA.
