I just named a variable “rawDump” and I really don’t feel good about it

    You know I never thought about a dump in computing being possibly derived from the way of saying someone took a shit

    Guess it makes sense now
    These people are obsessed with shit in the first place
    If they influenced computing would make sense

    "Raw dump" is fine as long as it is a dump of raw data. But a dump in the strict sense contains only unfiltered, unsorted and unformatted data anyway. So the "raw" is sort of redundant.

    Just make sure to not call your "logs" "dumps" and your "dumps" "logs"...

    @YouAllSuck as @Oktokolo pointed out, no, they're different: humans dump materials that have been processed for hours in our stomach, whereas @qbalsdon is dumping raw data. In this sense, it's more like vomiting. Garbage collection would be like dumping because you've already used the data
