I had a 15 minute meeting, organised by the MD, with the CTO and a principal engineer, to discuss what shade of yellow a button should be. Massive waste of time.

    Blue ... NO! GREEN! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    What shade did you end up with? And did they refer to the colors by RGB values, or by “daffodil” and “summer haze”?

    @platypus if it is not the former, a MASSIVE waste as the OP said

    How can it be the most unproductive meeting when there actually was a decision made?
    Did you never attend one without any decision making and no information growth whatsoever?
    I almost envy you!

    Shit like this really happens lmfao. Holy fuck I really hope I get to experience that myself

    @Oktokolo ha, you think there was a decision made... The conclusion was it's a hard choice.
  • 3
    Isn't that on the identity profile made by a Designer or Design firm?

    Why would a fucking CTO would care? That is totally a marketing thing.
    I hate where you work.

    @atheist
    Well, when bikeshedding, it isn't about the conclusion, but about the journey... :P

    @mundo03 *worked! 😁 Although when I changed project (after saying in my first annual review I was planning to leave in the next 6 months) the job did improve

    @atheist we should start a service fir red flag places to work, make it API only so crappy managers can't get info
  • 1
    @mundo03
    But isnt that the point of such a service - showing managers, that they failed and have to fix their management style?
  • 2
    @Oktokolo i thought more on letting candidates know the company is shit.

    But I like your idea, we can get money from companies to give them access.

    @mundo03
    Yes, that is how it should be done!

    Only 15 minutes? Doesn’t sound that bad.

    MD, CTO, and a lead engineer?

    One or more of the former was

    1. Looking for a reason to hobnob with someone above his salary

    2. Someone felt left out and wanted involvement in the day to day.

    3. Someone wanted to gauge someone's decision and group skills

    4. Someone was bored and fucking with someone else or wasting time before lunch/break/end of day

    5. Someone was indecisive

    6. Someone wanted to look busy or only appear to know what they are doing.

    7. All of the above.

    @Wisecrack 2, 5 and 6 definitely! The others require a level of competence in the organiser (MD) That... is... Not there...

    @platsumme@platypus Summerhaze would look way better. Fact.

    These meetings make me feel so superior, it's awful. I'd pre-code a field in the CMS containing a hex color and show these idiots what the site would look like and how to fill in the color.

    The rest is just getting paid to sit in a chair. As long as it doesn't influence my total time spent on work, eh. Productivity is my superior's concern, not mine.
