So today my CTO reigned, and I heard rumours that they probably will have me as the next CTO. Me personally, I'm not ready for this ... Even as a Senior Software Engineer , sometimes I have obstacles leading the my Juniors (6 of them).

Also, for the same pay, I rather maintain my current position.

I am not ready yet.

What's with everyone becoming a CTO these days in here.

The fact that you have reservations is good and it's the reason you'll be a great CTO. And for the potential downsides some stoicism will do you good. "We suffer more often in imagination that in reality.” — Seneca

For everything else. You'll be boss man that means you get powers. Like giving yourself a paid CTO education leave? And hiring a CTO mentorship/coach consultant for yourself. You'll grow personally like you never thought possible.
    Best of luck! 👍

If it's for the same pay, and you don't want it, I don't see why you should accept...

    If its same pay, nop

If its the same pay, go back to them with a better offer, more than likely, CTO is getting paid 30%-40% what you are, so ask for 40% and see if they counter. Worst case scenario you go back to your position, and someone else gets a low-paying CTO position.

Management: Here's a promotion with more responsibility and stress!

You: It comes with a pay raise right? 😀

    Management: .

You: It comes with a pay rise right?! 😬
