Not sure whether this would fit your requirement but have a look at Oracle free tier.
No one could know better than me how shitty Oracle is but their free tier is worth checking out. -

lurch3513yHonestly. Digital Ocean is my first pick for personal projects because of their cheaper tiers. Plus they seem like a somewhat good company. You want something better for cheaper, you could always run dynamic DNS from your house 🤷♂️

In germany you can almost get a Bare metal server for that.
44€ (+45€ setup) - Ryzen 3600 (6C/12T) - 64 GB Non-Ecc RAM, 2x 512 GB NVMe
Netcup has also pretty decent deals in germany.
I think looking for a cloud heavy provider is not the right thing in this case. Best google primarily for VPS/KVM servers or checkout vServer offerings from root server providers. -
@lurch @molaram as I said, I was just surprised as you get in Germany dedicated hosting for that price range with twice the RAM.
Hence my question if there are alternatives ....
But seems like US is an expensive biatch, maybe Canada is better.
And I don't have much experience of US hosters, hence curiosity.
Running on own machine is out of question, reason why I asked specifically for shared or dedicated hosting.
It doesn't have to be a cloud provider, I asked for alternatives.
No reason to be smarty pants if you don't have an clever answer :-P

Anyone knows a good and cheap hoster for shared and dedicated hosting in the USA?
I'm kinda flabbergasted when e.g looking at Digital Ocean.
8 GB, 4 cores, shared - 40 $ per month.
Like... What the frigging fuck Oo
