Student walks into tutoring center halfway through the semester for a computer science appointment and their first question is "How do I declare an int?"

    Same experiences. People without deeper interest for programming, going trough courses just to gratuate.

    @scionar the bad thing is it was a freshman who was a computer science major.

    So....if the HW assignments from, say, day 1 require you to know this...hmmm

    @jmclemo6 It never helps that some people need taught a certain way before something sinks in... Way to go though for tutoring....props!

    @jmclemo6 at least it was a freshman... there are some upper classmen at my school who are just as bad.

    Maybe he was ill the first part of the semester. If he asks questions he maybe is interested. If you are the tutor try to be nice to him and answer his questions if it doesn't slow down the rest of the group too much.
    I skipped half of a semester because (well because drugs and partying)... after I got back on track I was behind by a few months and some tutors carried me through. I am so thankful that they helped me and even sacrificed some of their spare time for me. Every time I see them there coffee or drink is on me. (well The first round)
