This is how fear looks like.

Shall I go ahead and ruin my long weekend?

Windows 11 was rolled out on 05th October and I am getting it for my machine today.

Shit scared but fuck it. Let's do it.

    20H2 was 2020 not 2021

    how are you that far behind?

    We in the future are at 21H1

    @C0D4
    When I clicked on 'See what's inside this update'

    It took me to Win 11 page. Maybe they are preparing me for a nuke down.

    @Floydimus as I understand it, you need to be on 21H1 before it drops W11 on you, on the right side of the screen in windows update I have a "windows 11" spot to check it out.

    What you should have been directed to us this one - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/...

    @electrineer @IntrusionCM @C0D4

    Update: After 45 minutes, updates failed with an option of RETRY.

    Retry did not work and system says, I am up to date.

    Yes, I need more butt sex.

    @Fast-Nop even after that slap, it didn't give me any reward.

    @Floydimus 1909 is pain, you will need a formatting thumbdrive to install updates 90% time.

    @melezorus34 @Floydimus

    Backup to external drive, best with direct access to the folder structure.

    USB stick.

    USB Windows installation.

    Shift + F10 for CMD prompt.

    Nuking every device with Diskpart

    Fresh installation.

    Checking eventvwr.msc after installation and updates, if everything fine, creating another backup of OS.

    Then restore what's necessary from the first backup.

    Otherwise Windows can be quite a bitchy bitch.

    @IntrusionCM @melezorus34 seems dangerous and a lot of work.

    Windows is sensitive enough to even touch their non-moving gear. Here we talk about fucking with the live one.

    @Floydimus if you have a backup it's not unsafe.

    Quite the other way around.

    Updating windows multiple times has more side effects than a clean install and reinstalling programs in afresh install.

    Whenever windows is acting up, I'll start from scratch.

    Many problems suddenly vanish into thin air.

    @IntrusionCM it's a hassle to do it everytime because every app meeds to be reconfigured and not all have backup options for their settings.

    @Floydimus

    Everytime. I rarely use windows so it only happens every 3 - 5 years I think...

    And only when things are really fuckity.

    Eg update installed and BSOD / reboot loop / update not installable

    :) Not for every update of course

    @Floydimus I never said formatting. You have to use a bootable usb to update some things that are not able to update "as a live gear" in 1909.

    But yeah, go make a backup and have a fresh install, it will have less headache.
