Now that I have to use Microsoft Teams chat, I don't find Slack that bad anymore. Teams doesn't support threads, source code is poorly formatted without any syntax highlighting, and emojis look shitty.

I use teams for work everyday. You can use threads in channels but they're in line with the chat and there isn't a separate section for them like slack has. Teams also supports code snippets with syntax highlighting. You just have to tell it which language to use instead of plain text.

Did you just fucking mention source code in Teams? :)

Because let me tell you, it's worse than you think. Try to copy a JSON template from someone's wiki entry.
    Oops, all invisible formatting characters.

Yeah, Teams is weird for copying formatting and displaying it differently. It can be cleared with one button though so not all bad.

I mean, Microsoft has done good work for developer experience in the past years. VisualStudio Code is a great app, WSL seems to get rid of the old mingw git bash / powershell peculiarities, and the Chromium based Edge browser has finally made it possible to deprecate Internet Explorer.

But Teams, Skype, Outlook, and the original Microsoft Office are still no applications that I will use, as long as I have a choice.

I agree. Teams in desktop doesn't even support to attach files in personal messages.

@codeman it does support that. You can attach files and you can also see previously attached files in the "Files" tab in each chat.

Teams desktop doesn't even work properly on Linux, or I somehow mixed up the personal and professional versions. At least the video doesn't freeze anymore in the browser app.

The option to blur or change the background is not available in the browser version, so I am the only one with the actual background.

@fraktalisman background blur support on the Web client should be coming this month

"Your team mates are trying to reach you in Microsoft Teams" flooding my Outlook mailbox, even if other coworkers are chatting in a team channel without ever mentioning me.

Such a crappy bullshit trying to be a communication software!

Coincidence that the language reminds me of LinkedIn notifications, after LinkedIn has been acquired by Microsoft? And didn't Microsoft buy GitHub as well? Oh wait, that GitHub where I can't fully deactivate the annoying dependabot pull requests?

Dear Microsoft, if covid was actually invented by Bill Gates, it would have failed to infect so many people. People would only get sick because their employers or customers forced them to use your fucking disease!
