I have breathed new life into this little thing.
Acer Aspire One Netbook
Intel Atom N450 @1.66GHz
2GB Memory
160GB HDD
Bodhi Linux
I'm tempted to replace the HDD with an SSD.

@RazorSh4rk this was my companion for two years of 24/7 365 on-call for an ADABAS database on an IBM mainframe. I ran a 3270 term emulator to log on to the MF and do my work. It is small, portable, and has enough power for the job.

My boyfriend bought this about 5 years ago and used it for things like MatLAB, Visual Studio(C#) etc., when he was studying for his bachelor's degree in Electric and Computer Engineering. The netbook is still alive and well.

Mine has a bad battery, and I don't feel like buying a new one for it.

So, the Bodhi Linux didn't work out so well ... random hanging, so now it is running CentOS 7 with Gnome, and it is running great!

Did you add a second memory chip to take it to 2GB or did it come pre-installed - I have two used ones each having 1GB so I may combine the best of both. One has a bad logic board, the other possibly a bad video chip.
