nibor48773yIf you want to post a rant or a story use the first. Jokes and memes use Joke/Meme. To ask a question use Question, to moan about the devrant platform itself use devrant, use random for anything else
-
nibor48773yYes - you used the Question option so your posted is tagged with question along with any other tags you add. Now anybody who can't be bothered with answering any questions can filter them out from the feed.
Joke/Meme filters are particularly popular -
rant/story - complain or tell a story, the more salacious the better. swearing is approved.
joke/meme - shitposting
question - no matter what you ask you will be told this isn't SO. we will also insult you, and some kind soul will answer the question. also you will get fake answers too. especially if it is homework
devrant - this is a meta tag. this is for self referential posts about "devrant" itself. don't use this unless the topic is devrant.
random - random shit, another type of shitposting -
sariel85313yNewbies: they're all the same thing
Seasoned devranters: there's more than just rants? -
atheist99293yIf you choose wrong, we'll all hate you.
We'll also hate you if you choose right, just with fewer reasons.
Welcome to devRant. -
@macfanpl Yeah tags go through a shuffle algorithm before being sent.
And if you need more than one tag yes, you add it manually. -
The non obvious one would be that "devRant" is not a rant about development.
it's a meta discussion about the state of the devRant platform.. Like design feedback about the app. -
Why are people struggling with this?
Seems pretty straight forward - the HUGE first button indicates this is the default category and you can safely pick that one if you're unsure.
But if you have a niche topic you're sure fits in another category - pick that category.
Sure it's not 100% clear when to pick rant/story vs question if it's a rant with a question baked in...but then just go with the big button.
The only confusing part is the "devRant" category for talking about the platform - which can be mixed up with rants in general.
