I try to convince my boss to choose Slack and not Microsoft teams.
What's your opinion on these apps ?

@azuredivay slack is free if you are ready to lose your historial... Else it's expensive as fuck.

We use Slack and have Office 365 as Teams wasn't a thing back then. If we were to choose now though, I'd go with Teams.

You should go for a self hosted choice, like rocket.chat or mattermost

We do a combo of Signal and Tox. They work well and for message security we want as much as possible in our control and encrypted but I'd imagine this not being the perfect solution for you...

@VonKavalier thanks for your answer. Mattermost seems be a good solution. And it has a mobile app. I will propose it to my boss.

We went from slack to teams and we are loving the intergrations team has with the Microsoft services. Also like the group structure instead of the channel structure what slack has.

Our dev team uses Slack (free), and the company has Teams because of Office 365, but most people use Skype for Business.

Slack is too expensive for Enterprise ($12.50 per seat per month). Teams has a bunch of cool integrations such as SharePoint, Power BI, Word, etc...lot's of MS stuff...It even has a dark theme.

There's a lot of others...I have felt that IRC was and is great, classic. Google Hangouts is cool, Gitter is okay. HipChat might be good for all the Atlassian integrations, never used it though.

Here's a decent list to peruse:

@VonKavalier No no no. Unless you have the time to maintain this, DO NOT go self hosted. Especially given that Teams is included in O365 subscriptions anyway.

@drRoss That's what was chosen in the company I work for. We decided to move away from slack since we can have a complete history and decided Rocket.Chat instead. I did the setup, I launch a bash I wrote every time there is an update and everything is fine we are in control of everything. So yes yes yes it's already in place and fits perfectly for us 🙂

@VonKavalier Enjoy having to maintain that.

@drRoss Well I don't have any problem. Just running a script once in a while. OMG so hard. It's been almost a year you know 😐

    Thanks everyone for your answers.
My boss chosen to pay slack. He does not want a self hosted solution like mattermost...
