You don't always need to know the current trends to get a new job

    And don't commit suicide, please

Just apply for jobs as, like, yourself.

If you don't know, you're not on LinkedIn or Reddit enough 🧐

What kind of job do you want to move to and what tech do you work with now?

Metaverse blockchain are some of the latest buzzwords.

However just be yourself , engineering especially in a hostile environment can be stressfull but always remember that you are a strong mofo, otherwise you would not be in this line of work anyways.

If you join a place that hires you just because you blab some buzzwords, you will be posting this again in a few months.

Cobol. Try it. Most likely you will hate it.

But if you love it, you can make money fast and will never have to worry about the latest buzzwords again.

I wouldn't look at bleeding edge stuff yet as that's something companies will not even look at until a few years - if it ever even becomes a mass market thing or a niche. For instance web3.0 isn't something the average web team is even contemplating yet.

Sometimes trend watchers also just guess visions for the future that never pan out - like intricate voice commands becoming a standard in business software. Seen it mentioned as a "trend to watch" for 5 years now but never seen it used in real life.

I'd look at trends and buzzwords from a few years ago that actually got wider adoption. Like cloud-native and serverless.

Or even better: topics which are safe bets, not tied to a specific stack, but are kinda trending up. Like coding secure applications. And managing integrity in the GDPR era.
