You returned from your five-day vacation you spent in the mountains. You’re exhausted, but you feel awesome. After all, you climbed Mount Hood all alone, all by yourself.

As phones die in freezing conditions, you took pictures with your camera, that amazing views from the mountain peak, and everything on your way there.

You connect your camera to your PC. You open the pictures folder and realize the photos you took are gone. Instead, there are just five pictures.

Pictures of you. Sleeping in your tent.

I’d move the “all alone” bit of information to the very end, to increase the anxiety: “pictures of you . Sleeping in your tent. You went on vacation alone.”

very nice short story, it gets across the horror elements effectively

😂 who took pictures of me sleeping? You should write comedy movies.

You can make a phone work in cold conditions. Turn on airplane mode, turn off Wifi and Blutooth. Put it in a case that offers at least some insulation on the back (can't really insulate the screen side though) and carry it and some powerbanks near your body to keep them warm. Decide what to shoot first - then shoot and pocket the phone again.

P.S.: The real horror element here is that all the nice and scenic pictures are lost - so think about backupping the shots of the day before going to sleep...
