Installed VS Code, have to say, i like it a lot. Even though it's a Microsoft product.

My new favorite editor.

It's the only product of Microsoft that didn't disappoint me yet. I have been using it for past 4 months.

It is good but sublime still beats it i think

Me too! I mainly do Go development on it. On a side note, I recently wrote my first ever extension for VS Code as well. Love it so far.

Yeah VSC is awesome. Switched to it from Atom

It is nice. I get all moist and wanting for atom as of late.

@hasit how did you like he extension marketplace? :)
  • 1
I've tried every new editor out there.

It boils down to: I know all my vim mappings by heart

@shaaraddalvi VSCode provides a command line tool for publishing and versioning your extension. The documentation is pretty straightforward too. Check it out https://github.com/hasit/vscode-gi

@hasit I know, just asked about your feedback, I work on the Marketplace. :)

    Installed...
Tried to add multiple folders to a project...
    Back to Sublime xD

@shaaraddalvi So you are working on VS Code or at least on a part of it? Is there a change that we someday get full support for HTML in PHP files? That is the only thing that disappoints me sometimes... :/

@OnlyBytes no, I work on Marketplace where we manager all the extensions and their downloads to the Vscode. You can raise an issue on the VSCode github repository to get the contributors' attention on this issue. :)

I went in certain I was going to find a bloated, over complicated pile of crap. I fell in love instead.

Are we sure this is the same Microsoft?
  • 1
@shaaraddalvi there are already a lot of issues for this feature... I don't think that there is the need for another one... I was just interested if you know wether it is something they think about... :-)

@brayyy perspectives of building software are changing and extensibility is the new sexy. You get the barebones and you customize it to your liking.

I've been using VS Code for a while now, and considering that Microsoft is using Atom's webkit-based Electron instead of some weired Edge-based app is really wowing me. Nice job, Microsoft!

    @brayyy
-> @DRSDavidSoft That's why its lost Microsoft signature xD

What's with the constant bashing of Microsoft products? Did you forget that they also made TypeScript for example?
  • 0
Visual studio and Visual studio code, are some of the best tools, and everyone is hating microsoft. But they still know how to make a good product ;)

What sucks about it is that it is not the most keyboard-shortcut friendly
  • 1
@jshrt you can customize it real quick. If you are coming from vim or emacs, there are extensions that set your keyboard to for you.
  • 0
@hasit is there a preset that has vim? When in insert mode it's sublime text's keymap and when it's visual it's vim?
  • 0
@jshrt what do you mean by when in visual?
  • 1
@CSaratakij @CSaratakij, yeah, totally agree. Abandoning the kitchen sink approach and going lightweight and extendable was a smart path. Seeing Microsoft finally waking up and coming around to embracing the open-source community is awesome.

@hasit visual mode and insert modes? In vim?

    @hasit what's your extension?

@error503 it is called 'gi' on VSCode marketplace and 'vscode-gi' on Github. I'd be happy to receive issues and PRs.
