I'd say current definitely. I just ordered a MacBook Air, but I would've gotten the Pro if I weren't a poor college student

ridecar23828y@complxalgorithm Have Dell gone down that much? I have a MacBook Pro and it is not nice. Nasty to type on and it overheats like you would never believe.
-
@ridecar2 How long have you had it? I have an HP laptop currently and it's the loudest motherfucking computer I've ever been around, not even regarding the fact that it's slow as hell. My experience with Dell computers have been practically the exact same

emes0013198yI love the resolution of the new Dell XPS laptops (a friend has one). Having said that, I would get current MBP if you plan on doing iOS dev. If not, maybe go XPS and save yourself some cash? Or have you looked into Surface Book at all? That thing is a beast!
-
@ridecar2 Yeah, I've had my laptop for 4 years, and it's always been that way. I've actually used MacBooks that are the same age that have performed just as well as they always have. Also, I saw on your profile that you use .NET. How do you go about developing with that on your MacBook? I'm asking because I'm still interested in developing with Visual C# but I don't know how I'd be able to use .NET when I get my Air
-
@ridecar2 I should add that the main reason I'm getting a MacBook is so that I can actually adequately develop for iOS

ridecar23828y@complxalgorithm I boot camp it but starting to like project rider a lot. Also I might remote into the desktop. Bought the mac for when I was developing in php and node, given that production ran Linux it was handy to have.
-
@ridecar2 ah okay that makes a lot of sense! how come you prefer project rider over bootcamp? not judging, I've honestly never heard of project rider lol

ridecar23828y@complxalgorithm With a lot of the work I have done I got used to Jetbrains IDEs and Rider is very much a Jetbrains IDE with resharper in the background.

I have a MacBook Pro 2012 version with 8 gigs Ram. Best computer I've ever had - still looks new and is extremely reliable

7immyH148y@7immyH I can wait a bit. Bought a new Thinkpad within the last year but I am annoyed because I almost went for MBP and my boss talked me out of it. Shortly thereafter others on my team are slowly switching over and one of them a vocal advocate.
I helped the lady living below with an issue she had, well she was working on a MBP and it felt so natural to be working on it and I loved the keyboard. Funny thing is she was frustrated using it and ready to throw it in the lake. I told her to give it to me next time. Maybe I can get her to sell.
Would you rather get the current Macbook Pro at a discount, or wait for the new one that ditches the MagSafe and all the other ports for the USB-c at full price when it comes out?
