My former employer refuses to pay out my vacation time per state law. Left a month ago but they have not disabled my company email account.

Small shop so no active directory but still shocked they have not disabled my access. It’s only outlook/ office 365 no access to network drives.

What kind of small, petty and (mostly) legal havoc can I cause?

Something annoying but causes no monetary damage.

an out-of-office responder that says what your employer did. (which isn't even slander, since it's a provable fact)

everything you do there is illegal as far as i know. wouldn't do anything.

but theoretically I would check if impersonation works to fire off something funny

I would be careful doing anything, it might be held against you

I know its tempting. Withold any action. Do as @nebula , @catgirldev, and @LotsOfCaffeine suggested.

@bioDan then again, it depends on what the employment/termination agreements say about it. Unless they say you can't use your accounts after termination [which could be missed as it's a small company and prolly don't have a legal dpt], I don't see why step back.

@netikras Most likely that's not the case. There are templates for termination letters and most companies use a template or copy it from a bigger company with a legal department
