Root825412yIt’s amazing to think how far we’ve come.
Explaining today’s git patch to these devs… it would be sufficiently advanced that it would look almost like magic to them. Likewise with writing modern Python or JS.
Heck, Haskell is kinda magic. -
@Root I'm more amazed how many times I have to tell people that the task given is not "hard".
Need to think of this especially looking at that picture.
If you fucked that up, that doesn't just mean "redo from scratch". It meant also waiting for a new time slot, being lucky to get one, and having uncertainty the whole time wether it will work out or not.

sariel85342y@netikras not only the patch but squashing bugs is also a literal translation.
It was a moth in the feed end wasn't it? -
The "print" key used to actually print the screen on paper. Today it’s screenshot.

@Lensflare same reason why the function is named "print()" or 'write()'. And why there's a \r\n linebreak [two separate operations].

@IntrusionCM I wonder how would a petstore weapp would look, written in those punchcards :)

Didn't know that!
Reminds me of the story of the first computer bug.

This is why it’s called a “patch”.
