2011 Intel mobile chip vs recent (and quite good) ARM chip
Doesn't sound like you do much on your notebook tbh -

As you can see everything is supported on the t420 and there doesn't seem to be a culprit with it. -
j0n4s53102yAnd here is everything you would need for the t420

i know it is for archlinux, but this can be applied to every distro you use. Replace pacman with the package manager of your distro and off you go. -
DEVil6669132y@12bitfloat Or maybe the fact which exists fster and newer hardware doesn't make older stuff slower.
I'm able to do keep open all the editor panes with related LSP, containers and browser tabs I need to do my Java development job without lags or issues. -
j0n4s53102y@DEVil666 No problem! The ArchWiki is the best source for linux related stuff (even if you don't have archlinux)
-
@DEVil666 True but an Intel mobile chip from 2011 was never fast in the first place
But if it works for you why not -
I would expect the battery life to be quite different. The thinkpad probably has a better keyboard and nipple, although it's already in the Lenovo era so not the best any more.
-
DEVil6669132y@electrineer for sure Mac’s battery life was stellar and Lenovo cannot compete but since I always use it indoors I don’t need that
-
Blaudio12yif you think this unironically then you either don’t need or don’t deserve an m1 macbook
