jchw11028yIf you're looking for an IPS that's not doable. I think even FHD may be hard for that price range. Also, you will probably end up with a ULV Intel processor, which are essentially useless and not what you want.
While the MacBook is expensive and overpriced imo, it does at least come with proper high end components for getting actual work done. Sadly my favorite brand, Lenovo, will hardly even do that for some of their flagship lines anymore, often shipping ULV and otherwise low end processors, leaving few options in the way of good work laptops. -
Although it's a bit smaller, the HP Envy 13 is a lovely bit of kit: https://amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CO1TU8A/...

m12i5058yThe Asus k550vx dm108t is interesting, but probably too gaming oriented (+ extra money for HDD to ssd switch)

ryuji10018yI bought an Asus X555UB for about ~600€ for Uni.
Has 6th gen i5, 8GB ram, 128 GB SSD, Nvidia 940m, but only 1366x768 screen (but I use an external monitor) and some motherboard issues with Linux (which I could resolve though).
Recommended if you don't care too much for build quality and just want something that can run your code smoothly.
It also handles some games very well (e.g. csgo, cities skylines, ksp).
Battery holds 4-9h depending on whatever you're doing.
