Fuck people who say they want to learn to code and then make 0 effort. You try to help them, find them resources, hold their hand, offer to mentor, come up with projects and they still do nothing. A grown ass man who says he wants to be a developer and get would rather play vampire survivors than open a web browser and learn anything. Why do you waste my time?

    Tbh whenever soneone talks about learning to Code *from* someone, use the term mentor and so on i am suspicous. Because it's not how how it works. You learn of by your self. You do it by yourself. Its lonely and will be lonely. Sure when you are allready kind of developer you can learn a lot of from other developers and Groß and become less crappy. But the way to break your brain at frist Wand learn to think like a fucking computer you have to go on your own. Even when you study computer science the programming part is expected to be mainly self taught.

    Sounds like the average journalist affected by "learn to code"

    I want a project to work on personally
    Something I can use or someone can use or is just neat

    @AvatarOfKaine That depends on what interests you. Personally I'm not above remaking clones of existing apps and then figuring out how to put my own spin on it along the way. Clones of Twitter, Reddit, Facebook (barebones version). Take your pick.

    @MadOgre well in truth that is how applications evolve really
    I just can't think of more than specific uses for my purposes

    @AvatarOfKaine Think of some way in which existing social platform is lacking. Something that annoys you or something you'd like to see. Maybe you want to build your own community with different ways users can interact. Start small. For example how about Reddit with granular control of individual subs and subscribers.

    @MadOgre well mainly
    I understand why stack overflow people get obsessive
    However even repeat questions if linked properly expose wording a person may have used to arrive at the question

    Course I rarely search stack overflow
    I search on Google
    Which exposes stack overflow articles
