Monday starts amazing.

Team Leader is mad that i didn't attend a party, and insists to know, why i wasnt there.

An event, that per my understanding was obviously an optional event, where colleagues meet, talk about some stuff, and then eat and drink, because it was fucking worded that way in the email. Ah and in that email they also asked us to actively respond, if we want to participate.

Me, naturally: Obviously an optional event, go figure.

Maybe it wasn't meant in the "you did something wrong not to attend" way, but in the "is everything okay with you and the team?"-way?

@horus No, it was written in a threatening tone, ala "if you're not there next time, then..."

This guy pulls stuff like that all the time tho. It's just unnecessary.

@thebiochemic Find something else and when the next party comes up, just say "sorry, I can't come since I'm leaving the company"

@hitko the company itself is not bad, the TL is just a cunt for no reason.

Will probably talk to the head of the department, who is way more chill, and see if i can get into another team.

However, i'm keeping an eye out for opportunities 👌

His response following mine was btw:

so this event was indeed optional, however, because you neither accepted nor declined, i just assumed, that you accepted.

So i asked him, why this exact behaviour is not documented in the employee's handbook then, if that's such a clear decision to him.

And he was like: i will take it to the next meeting and talk with the others about that.

Good luck with getting that into the manual my friend, i'm pretty sure a lot of people will be pissed about that 🤣

    @thebiochemic

I usually reply in these kinds of discussions that by law a silence acceptance is invalid.

If you get an offer and you do not reply with an consent, then there is no contract.

Thus if someone doesn't answer, it's always a Nay.

Writing "no answer means acceptance" falls under the same category.

Would be pretty dumb if voting with zero answers would mean 100 % acceptance...

Especially when no one knows if the messages arrived at their recipients.

It's one of these things in communication where I get very angry and violent fast. :)

@IntrusionCM imagine if a credit card company was like “we sent you an offer and you didn’t respond. Here is your new card”

@jeeper exactly. That's why silent agreement is in law forbidden...

    That’s… crazy talk from management!

"Team Leader is mad that i didn't attend a party, "

I'd be like "are you my keeper? Is this a zoo?"
