pajaja17228yIf the keyboard is important to you then Thinkpad, no question. XPS probably has a better screen. -
You can easily upgrade or repair the Thinkpad.
As I had bad experiences with an unmaintainable Surface Pro that was one of my reasons to go with a Thinkpad. Fancy ultrabooks are fun until the thing doesn't boot anymore and you realize you can't even open the case. -
@deadlyRants I spilt coffee all over my XPS. The bottom comes off. We took the RAM, battery and SSD out to dry off

Do you run Linux on it?
Everything about the 9560 I love.
Only downside are the QA issues and
@pajaja
Keyboard is important, but I've been told that the XPS has a nice one too. Though I'm aware Thinkpad are notorious for the keyboards. It's not a deal breaker.
@itsdaniel0
Yes they're both very upgradable. You can even exchange the battery for the XPS as well. Main difference being there's no buldge from the huge battery of the XPS. :)
With the Thinkpad on the other hand, you can probably get a similar experience at a cheaper price (save like $400+ with the sales now, plus a membership discount). Then again, the XPS and it's form factor is just ridiculously beautiful, even though the battery is a lot larger which I find crazy. Still has a beautiful 1080p display and I've heard the T470p is not so good. -
@QuantumAtom I don't run Linux, nope. Just Windows 10. A .NET dev here 😊
I've the 4K screen. It is crisp! Every now and then there can be a small flicker, but I barely notice it
Are you going for bigger batter and SSD, or smaller battery and HDD? -
cipher6468y@itsdaniel0
Ahh, gotcha lol.
But I'm going for the bigger battery and ssd with the FHD panel. I believe it's the $1600-1800 model. -
@QuantumAtom I doubt you'd get a weird flicker though. Heard there were a few issues with the 4K panels
Pretty sure the FHD is matte too. No glare 🤣 -

@QuantumAtom I can't say I hear them. I have 2 VS instances running right now and can't hear it. I do have the TV on though, as a disclaimer
The only time I really notice the fans is if I'm running a migration of some kind. Parsing a lot of data at once
Or, it's in the sunlight. The black carbon finish does get hot in direct sun -
@QuantumAtom Don't forget I have the 9550, it's predecessor. I doubt that would make too much difference

Thanks for the info!
And ahh yes, I forgot. My now laptop (Dell latitude 6430u) will blast the fans at full speed even when idle, Smh. -
cipher6468y@itsdaniel0
Nope. Cleaned.
I did some research a bit ago and there was a apparently a manufacturing problem initially.
