How do you define a junior/senior dev?
I've been a professional developer for about 5/6 years now.
Would taking a "junior" role be a step down? Or does the term not really matter?3 -
I've learnt a lot over the years. There's nothing more than working on an old project to remind me of that.1

What do you guys use for email providers these days?
I'm talking more for custom domains, not sending/receiving5 -
Why are some of my previous rants tagged with "undefined"? I definitely don't remember doing that 🤔2
-
Fello SASS users!
I'm still an avid user of Compass, but since it doesn't support new versions of SASS I know I should move on
One of the main reasons I've stayed with it, is for its configuration file.
So what do you guys use now? Is Node SASS the way?3 -
I didn't realise Chrome was just dropping properties. Although I rarely stray from Web standards...

So are game consoles also affected by these processor problems? Many articles just mention PCs and phones5

I tried Firefox Quantum, but sadly back to Chrome it is for me.
I miss my extensions too much, and can't quite find an exact match for them in FF
It also still managed to use 3GB RAM 🙄2 -
Downloaded Firefox Quantum after the hype. Opened it. Loaded a website. Closed it again 😂
What are the dev tools like? I was never a fan on the FF dev tools for some reason. Are they more comparable to Chrome now?5 -
Genuinely thought "CLI" meant Command Line Interface. Only just realised it means Common Language Infastructure. How have I been a dev for this long :(10

Started as an apprentice to copy and paste some content in. Dabbled with the HTML editor in the process, it started from there

Do you prefer to negate a positive function or write a negative one?
Example
!IsValid() vs IsInvalid()6 -
I see a lot of articles/posts about the difficult of CSS.
Finding it hard to maintain, or resulting in spaghetti code.
Is this a common occurrence?
Whilst I've come across it in a few projects before, I wouldn't say it's a regular.
Now a lot of our sites are built on CMS' (Umbraco), but here's my approach.
I'll style the generic elements first across all pages
User generated content is usually in its own CSS class (for nested targeting, e.g. ul/ol tags)
Then I'll give each Document Type (post type/page type) it's own body class and apply specific styling to that page where needed.
Hopefully that's of help to some of you. I'm interested to hear your approaches to it! :)5 -
Just visited a website, which at the top of every page "Please paste your Google Webmaster Tools verification here"
What's odd, is this isn't a way I've seen to verify. Some kind of odd scam? 🤔2 -
Took over an open source project today. There's something quite scary deploying a fix to NuGet which has 18,000 downloads 😰4
-
So apparently Skype has a code editor for interviews.
Would you use this tool?
