    you're too late, and god is dead.
  • 5
    I think, Jesus might be the first celebrity to get cancelled for talking.
  • 1
    @ostream orthodox jesus is just as dead.
  • 1
    @ostream it was jews who cancelled him, and Jesus was Jewish himself.

    @tosensei see but "press x to doubt" only requires you to press *X*

    And that's how we ended up with Pascal's wager.

    @tosensei upvoting not bc I agree with it but this is the most hilarious comment I’ve seen this month

    @tosensei @ostream @fckIE @electrineer there are 3 unforgivable sins which will get you straight to hell:
    1. Abortion
    2. Blasphemy
    3. Suicide

    You guys have just committed blasphemy which is mocking the God, the holy spirit and Jesus. Its not something to make fun out of. Nor is it funny. I watched the passion of Christ movie (2004) and went to the Church twice this Easter, fasted, then ate in the Church a single spoon of bread soaked in wine, which represents the body and blood of Jesus. After doing all that i feel cleansed. My problems in life still remain but i as a person am cleansed, maybe for a while and not permanently. If i go to the Church often I wouldn't be toxic shitposting on devrant. Although there are a lot of questions, illogical statements and contradictions regarding religion, i still chose to believe in God because i just think we as humans are not smart enough, and will never be, to know that God exists or why everything works the way it does

    @b2plane good for you, but I doubt watching a movie and going to church gave you the authority to decide the destiny of other people.
  • 0
    @electrineer i didn't decide. It's written in the bible
  • 1
    @b2plane have you read the bible?

    @b2plane there you go.
  • 1
    @electrineer don't have to because someone else posted it

    @b2plane

    You can believe what want. I have no intention of making fun of your beliefs.

    Now making fun of Jesus is not the same as making fun of you. So I’ll go ahead. I think Jesus would have laughed at the jokes we are making. He seems a like cool guy.

    Also questions:
    1. Sincerely I never understood why would someone eat the metaphorical body of Jesus? Isn’t that I don’t know, cannibalism?

    2. I understand suicide being fast pass for hell, commit crime go to jail. Commit suicide go to help. It rhymes so it must be true.

    3. By the same theory, When you commit abortion, I assume the unborn goes to hell, not the parent, yeah?

    @fckIE

    The answer to 1 is actually theologically rooted. At the last supper Jesus said to the disciples (paraphrasing) the bread is my body and the wine is my blood eat and drink and be forgiven. Now this wasn’t really something he said to keep doing as a ritual but humans gonna LARP.

    The answers to the other two are really messy because following the teaching of Jesus doesn’t have a heaven and a hell. These are morphed concepts of the afterlives imagined by the Greeks and added on to early Christianity as a way to help the religion spread. Ancient Jewish tradition doesn’t necessarily have a distinct soul to be sent anywhere separately from the body. Death was just going to the void until the apocalypse.
    (Oversimplification)

    The idea that humans don’t have a divine part is so storing that there was a huge split (the Gnostic split) in the early church where if Jesus was a god he must not have had a human body. (Oversimplification, but yea) early Christian theology is a wild ride.

    @b2plane i hope to get into hell. all the good musicians are there.

    and as for blasphemy: screw god. she can suck my dick.

    also: the devil wrote the bible to mislead idiots. prove me wrong.

    @b2plane It seems you trust your works more than God. When you think you can lose your salvation, you don't trust (i.e. believe) in Jesus Christ alone but in our works not to mess it up. That is an unbiblical position. The bible clearly tells us:

    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2.8-9)

    And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10.28)

    For you, its must be worrisome, having the fear you may mess up 5min before you die and then go to hell forever. Again, its unbiblical to believe someone can lose salvation, once someone trust Jesus Christ, but when you trust your own works i doubt your salvation.

    @tosensei But all the good things do no longer exist in hell. There is no music in hell (we know there is music in Heaven).

    The devil does not know the future nor can he resurrect a death human. God can do both and did both. In Daniel 9.26 we have a prophecy about the death of the messiah (or Christ), with a relative precise timing, which perfectly fits the death of Jesus Christ. And we know Jesus Christ is risen from the death.

    Go on, when you trust the devil more and want to go to hell. It is your decision. But God says that he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
  • 1
    @happygimp0 another difference: the devil never killed basically all humans. the devil never called for a holy war, or for slaughtering unbelievers.

    also: the discussion is moot, because the whole universe, including the bible and those fanatics thinking it has any more base in reality than star wars, was created exactly 20 minutes ago by the flying spaghetti monster.

    praised be his noodly appendages.
  • 3
    @tosensei basically "how would you know if your memories arent fake?"

    Good argument.

    We dont. Access to a True ontology of reality is a hard problem.

    That's why theres so much emphasis on faith alone.

    But the more important question is, why is this on devrant at all?
  • 1
    @Wisecrack "why is this on devrant at all?" - cause religion is a disease that spreads everywhere.
  • 1
    @tosensei if it were a disease a hundred thousand years of evolution would have selected against it bu now. It's the selfish-gene hypothesis I suspect, and I've even seen some arguments for familial genetic benefits in communities wrt to say altruistic acts. Do not underestimate the eugenic effect of anything that boost either organized aggression or group cohesion.
  • 3
    @b2plane that right there is why we have so much religion fuelled war and terrorism. Others with ulterior motives interpreting "the truth" for you.

    Also unforgivable sins are old testament. Jesus died so all can be forgiven. Even the betrayal and killing of god's only son. That's the whole point of the new testament. So the crap you are spouting about Christianity is actually more blasphemous than the other comments.

    @Wisecrack is right. This should not be on DevRant, it's against the rules of it's all father. Normally I would refrain from religious comments but this one got to me.

    @ostream quality shitpost.
  • 1
    @b2plane, when did you convert from Judaism to christianity though bro? That's not a common thing at all. Most of the ones I know basically converted to secular modernism, lol.
    The religion of: "I dont know and I dont care. What's on netflix?"

    Would be really interesting to know what changed your mind.
  • 0
    @Wisecrack soo.. is yoour argument "it can't be a disease because it's still around", or what?
  • 0
    @jeeper thank you! I did not know about the origins of the body/blood of Christ thing.
  • 1
    @tosensei my argument is it's still around because it can be argued it has some eugenic effects that arent currently well characterized.

    We might be talking past each other here, which means it wont be a productive debate. I get the impression you're here to convince, while I'm debating just for the joy of it.

    Given that, it might be more interesting if we reverse positions and try and argue for each others current assertions, like the devil's advocate . That'd be fun and illuminating.

    Happy Easter!
  • 2
    @Wisecrack i'm not here to convince. or debate. i just find joy in outing my opinion that religion is a terrible thing, whenever somebody brings up religion in a place where it shouldn't be.

    if any god has a problem with that, they are free to smite me at their leisure.
