    My favorite is Visual Studio.

    @No-one cares :P

    @Linux i agree, VI is the best. But it's not an IDE, so...

    Does IDE help in a lot of languages/frameworks/runtimes?

    I've been just pushing code with sublime and I don't understand what more an IDE could bring to the table.
  • 3
    @Linux there's also vim plugin in jetbrain ides.
  • 4
    I like Visual Studio Code

    Ide are dumbass I never see an ide that not freezes and full of bugs
  • 2
    @Hjord All praise VS (and VS Code)!
  • 2
    Oh stop it guys, everybody knows that best ide ever on linux is 'ed' ...

    @No-one ha I actually started with java but since JavaScript and Python is in demand i leave it and intellj ide makes my pc hot af not laggy but resource hungry

    @esavier that's where u are wrong man, a real developer uses echo '' | tee file
  • 0
    @sSam yeah man, but it sucks, it doesn't even respect my vimrc
  • 0
    Yes, they do and who say otherwise never tried a jet brain product. They are way more user friendly, stable and clever than any other ide

    @No-one I guess we have different experiences with it.

    Can't speak for everyone but Android Studio is a peice of art! (No pun intended)

    @No-one Xamarin, yes. But only as a plugin. The Mac connect thingy is buggy.

    @No-one Again, different experiences. Maybe something's wrong with your computer since everything is buggy.

    @No-one Maybe it is 😶

    @b-atanasov VS Code IS an IDE 😉
    Have you ever used it?
  • 1
    I love Netbeans. Yes, saying this out of free will.
  • 0
    @qbasic16 yep. It’s a glorified textpad. As much of an IDE as Atom

    @b-atanasov On what is your opinion based? It seems to me that you have not used it lately...
  • 0
    @b-atanasov
    "An integrated development environment (IDE) is a software application that provides comprehensive facilities to computer programmers for software development. An IDE normally consists of a source code editor, build automation tools and a debugger. Most modern IDEs have intelligent code completion."

    And further:
    "Sometimes a version control system [...] (is) integrated." (VS Code has Git support)

    All of it is in VS Code.
    Well for the bild automation and debugger part it only has the environment ready for it, but there is everything installable in 10s in the built-in extensions explorer.

    So I'm not quite sure on what your opinion is based. 🤔😉

    @LinuxUser0001 what have you done
  • 1
    @qbasic16 I tried to read some definitions of IDE’s and stuff to find a breaking point in your explanation and I have failed :D
    So i guess my opinion is based on stupidity mainly 😁
    I guess it never felt like an IDE, more like a code editor.
  • 1
    Personally I would not call and editor an IDE, if it needs plugins to fit the definition.
  • 1
    @b-atanasov Yeah that's a good point 😁
    I think they did a good job at keeping it somewhat minimal but great to use. 😉
    Since a few weeks they even have support for merge resolving. You can now choose for each merge block which which source you want to use and apply it in one click like in VS. 😉
