Infra engineers should be war veterans
I literally spent 4-5 days on CI, DevOps and Intune
The worst part is you don't even know what will happen until the CI runs4
I don't usually check who follows me on GitHub but holy shit!
How did it reach this far
What did I even do
The CI just errored out with no explanation.
Just code 127 on bash...
I think the CI hates me6
> Spends a week on a feature
> "Oh we won't need it anymore"
EXCUSE ME BUT WHY!? WE HAVE A FUCKING ROADMAP YOU COULD'VE TOLD THERE WE WON'T NEED IT ANYMORE WHY FUCKING WHY YOU WANKSTAIN >:(8
Honestly remote work allowed me to stay productive but to make it more better:
* I usually isolate myself from the rest of the family so I can focus on work
* Taking breaks between sessions so I don't over-exert myself.
*Calming music (I don't know how calming Symphonic Metal is but it is to me)
Other than that, these are just my ways to keep myself efficient, aside from the additional setup my home setup needs which are a new external keyboard and a additional monitor (I use a laptop)
Additional notes: If you get burnt out too easily, try not extending your sessions for a entire day, you'd risk being devoid of motivation easily8
So, I spent an hour setting up a Debian fork since I cba to make DistroLauncher work for WSL2.
The end result was this: https://github.com/sr229/wslinit/
It's ultra-scuffed but hey it works!2
I like how a co-worker is expecting a Windows Container to work in Linux, and vice versa.
No, it doesn't work like that you fucking baffoon, Linux rootfses needs the Linux kernel (hence why it runs on WSL2 or Hyper-V using LCOW), and same can be said for Windows Containers.
How dumb of a human being must you assume everything should "just work" in a container?5
I should be making features today.
But I ended up watching a 2-hour stream of Akai Haato of Hololive.
Sometimes working at home is a blessing and a curse6
After 3 years of working with Node.js, I have finally snapped
Node.js is cringe
I am .NET gang now16
Being a junior myself before all I can say with others that came after me was:
- Keep your head down
- Don't take everything as an offense
- People are rude or angry, but that's just how we are: we deal with normal users' BS everytime that we just wanted a break.5
Can I complain most of the memes or jokes in this platform have been overused
I'm usually not the one to speak but sometimes I just see overused jokes or those stolen from Reddit.
Have some originality
(and before you ask, my own memes are on Reddit as well. I repost my own memes, not someone else's)12
Me and that other guy who has a braincell: Okay so we made this simple object mapping code so that you have the option to use YAML or environment variables, because they're both awesome UwU (we use YAML for testing, then variables for container prod deployments).
Some dude who picked up the project: meh, lets ditch that, dotenv and get rid of the object mapping, because I like to do the pain manually.
AND THIS DUDE NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO READ THE CODE CLAIMING HIS IS BETTER WTF
It took us enough testing and cofusion to get Object Mapping right and this guy just bastardizes work we've done for the past 2 years claiming "it sucks"
What a bloody bellend.7
You know as a FOSS developer with no company affiliation the "I am once again asking for your financial support" meme is truer every second
I'm sad and broke please help6
I lost sleep because of Kubernetes...
Rancher you fucking cuck you didn't tell me ahead of time OpenEBS can't RWX YA FOKIN WANKER FUCKING DAFT CUNT PIECE OF SHITE BLOODY BELLEND8
I woke up because someone was calling me to eat something since breakfast is out...
Then I check my email and people were pressuring me to finish project X (won't name because its private)
Oh my god let me catch a fucking break I've been coding nonstop for three days I'd appreciate if I get some leeway and rest? Fucking wankers.4
So friend told me I should make a Patreon and make it *serious*
emphasis in SERIOUS
I think his definition of serious is different from mine :3c
I may or may have reached peak performance now
Like what the fuck is up with these GitHub followers like sure I did work for a startup for months but hot damn 147.
I don't know if I should be mad or scared or cry or be happy.7
Visual Studio Code - ever since the beta.
VS Code is... amazing. There's no words to describe it. It's just amazing.
VSCode since the inception was just this tiny version of Visual Studio that you can transform into your own little IDE. That was the whole point of VSCode - it was a extensible editor. For many years I've used it and never looked back, I still use VS from time to time but Microsoft really nailed this one.
Most of the editors I knew lacked good auto completion and good linting, which IntelliSense was good, and it became even greater once support for languages started piling up. Themes also were top notch, I still remember you can't theme the entire window just the editor, nowadays you can.
And last but not the least is the Remote integration. I didn't need to leave my OS just to do work from another, I just need a SSH agent and it works. It's very straightforward and easy.
Overall Visual Studio Code is a editor that is more about choice and your own style - which makes it unique from IDEs, its fresh and its definitely earned its place as one of the most sought after tools in development.3
I forgot I had a devRant account but here I am now
So basically I got bored from Coronavirus that I decided to create a new project
basically this bad boy right here: https://github.com/sr229/...
I created this basically because of my frustrations with WSL2 and the existing solutions that wasn't on par on what I need - hence this one. I wanted to share this project since I know some folk right around the corner has the same needs as I do.
In other news: I'm suffering from unemployment and a broken wallet, and here I am just slacking in a laptop nothing really doing something fancy.
Quarantine is fun y'all.7
We decide to joke around with building stuff
We happen to name our Scaleway Server "Chitoge"
shit went down from there3
