    markup !== programming
    Even sass is more programming than HTML

    If HTML isn't a programming language, what is it?

    @LiquorFueled A markup language.

    @LiquorFueled A markup language, last time I checked their are no functions, loops, arithmetics in HTML

    @LiquorFueled A markup language is used to control the presentation of data, like "represent these user names as a bullet list or as a table". A programming language is used to transform data. It does so by creating CPU instructions that rewrite the input data into the output; hopefully, the desired output.

    TL;DR;
    Markup language presents data, Programming language transforms data.

    Right but where do you use markup languages? In my mind HTML, LaTeX, XML are all in the realm of programming languages.

    LaTeX has nothing to do with a markup language IMHO...
    XML is a data container, if you actually want to do something with XML you need to use xslt or another processor @LiquorFueled

    @bcye "Want to make pages less of an eye sore? CSS." seems a bit more appropriate.
