Generally off-topic rants get downvote and end up getting hidden from most feeds. We're also working on adding some kind of "rant type" feature.
I'd be curious to see some examples though. From what I've seen off-topic rants have been filtered effectively by the community lately and I've seen very few get many upvotes.
Also, what sorting method are you using? -
@dfox mostly I use default first card on Android app.
If you say posts are effectively downvoted and filtered that means I look at the app too often XD so that posts aren't downvoted yet. XD
You see, the thing with downvoting is that even when post is not rant, but not spammy, I won't downvote it because I want to be nice to others. I think it's the same for lots of people. -
@mt3o using the repost and "not for me" downvotes don't penalize the person who posted the rant and "not for me" helps the algo learn.
It's very nice that you are concerned about it, but don't worry, that's what it's for :)

I fall in love with devRant because I can sympathize with people having similar issues and learning what they do or at least reading sarcastic comments. Not because fcking generic posts that are flooding the main board!
Come on, at least mark your post as !rant so that it's easier to skip those posts.
