I'm not sure why but I don't seem to like latex. Maybe I could get into it but it just feels weird.

Nope same here, I cannot write documentation when it's completely unreadable.

If I really have to write latex I sometimes write asciidoc and use pandoc to convert it to latex and do my formatting after that.

TeX is a terrible typesetting language, but it's basically the only one available that actually works, at least if you need to do any serious math. Turns out typesetting is a really hard problem.

Latex is still much easier than IDML for typesetting. Fucking Adobe.

The trick is to separate your templating as much as possible from content, spend a weekend on a nice set of templates for your needs, so you can write your docs in distraction free mode.

Or use markdown, some js parser and a nice css stylesheet... never looks as pretty as proper latex, but it's much easier.

Latex is pretty cool actually. U can do anything u want with it, u just have to find the correct packages. Most of them are outdated or complete bullshit, but thats what latex is ^^

A lot better than generating reports or papers using MS Word or any text editing software..
