"shouldn't" -- you do what feels right to you. Not what others say you should or shouldn't do at your age.
In teambuildings others order a pint of beer. I order a strawberry milkshake. Because that's what feels right to me.
As for PS - why would you buy it? To play a quota of hours every week [God forbid not an hour less!] or to have a good time whenever you feel like you want to and can afford to?
I have a Quest2. And I'm happy I do, because I can beat the shit out of the beatsaber whenever I want to. That doesn't mean I'm playing every day or X hours per week. Nope.. I think I haven't touched it February-April [for 3 months] this year. And I'm happy I could enjoy it in the evening before yesterday. -
If you don't want the freedoms of a PC, get the console. And you are never too old to play games.
-
@Oktokolo Shit I should've mentioned.. I already got a laptop. Asus ROG strix G15. It has 12 GB RTX 3080.
Which makes this even worse, cuz I know PS5 titles will eventually arrive to PC. -
@Sid2006 i mean, yeah if youre patient, most of the games eventually will arrive on PC, otherwise i dont see anything wrong with getting a PS5. At the end of the day you can sell it, which balances out it's price somewhat.
Playing on console is somewhat entering a walled garden, however, it's also more convenient. So i can see why people would go to playing on console.
Go for it, if you feel like it 👌 -
Skip one weekend and bam? Play when you feel like it bro. If its even for one game and you don't play it again, get it if you want. Unless your close to broke or something, this shouldn't be much of an issue. Play when you want, when you can. This ain't some job, it's for fun. Do what makes you have fun

I learned Lua by playing Minecraft with ComputerCraft mod. I learn how to better organize larger project by playing hard Minecraft modpacks that require better organization to complete. Thinking through problems in 3D virtual spaces can help you visualize software problems.
Fighting humans with swords in a game can be therapeutic. We crave significance. We cannot always get that from just existing. -
Playing video games can help us realize failure isn't final. We need to start over and try again over and over to learn better strategies for success. This pattern can be learned playing games.
-
@Sid2006 In that case it would be pretty darn stupid to buy a console. You just waste resources without any gain as your laptop is likely better than a PS5 and grants you more freedoms and more games to play. The console would also cost money you could invest in games or other hobbies instead.
There is only one good reason for you to buy that console: PS5 exclusives for which no PC crackemus exist. -
@Sid2006 I play my lappy on my tv using hdmi. Max frame rate on tv is 30Hz though. But I am just a casual playing minecraft at 42".
-
tbh my PS5 is not calling on me as much as my switch with TOTK is doing, but that is just one game compared to the huge lists you would get from either the ps repertoire or the game pass
Games are a great way to relax or destress from work. At home I throw productivity off the table and embrace sitting on the couch playing games -
@thebiochemic The legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. New zelda game that just came out. Pretty fricking addicting if you are into Zelda games. Playing it right now lol
-
@AleCx04 oh okay. I'm personally trying to avoid abbreviating names of video games to avoid questions like these. I guess it also doesnt really help, that i only played the zelda that came out on the original gameboy.
but anyways, have fun then 👌 -
DEVil6669132yDo you work 16 hours/day? If not I don't see the issue on playing for some amount of time even in weekdays.
Deciding whether I should buy a PS5 is driving me nuts these days.
It has started to grow its library of amazing games. You may know about the Marvel Spiderman 2 trailer. It looks fire AF. So I know I'll enjoy playing games on it.
But I am afraid it'll take a hit on my productivity. So alright, don't play on weekdays.
But then it'll keep collecting dust and I don't want to buy something I'll use only couple hours a week. And who's to say I'll play every weekend? You skip one weekend and bam! You forget you even had a PS5.
It'll cost me about 500 USD which is right around the mark of me spending money that's on the umph side. It's not too much to make a dent in my savings but at the same time not too little that I don't have to think about it.
I'd probably end up not buying it because I am 30 years old and people like me shouldn't be wasting time playing games.
