WannaCry hit one of our server and the latest backup we had was from May 2017. You know who got blamed? Developers. I repeatedly told the General Manager that SysAdmin are the once who should be doing backups, Server updates and management as per their job description yet we got blamed for it.

I don't know what the fuck is going in this world.

@dontbeevil Just trying to get something clear haha. Are you saying that a sysadmin is supposed to know windows server? :)

@linuxxx if they or the company decide to go for windows server, the answer is obvious

@dontbeevil I meant in general for being able to use the name std admin for yourself

@linuxxx like it or not sys admin is generic, doesn't mean linux sys admin, you can have sys admin that knows linux but doesn't know how to manage windows server and company users ... it's like a programmer, doesnt' mean that if you know c you're programmer but if you know another language you're not

@dontbeevil Yeah thought so, and I like it! I was more wondering if not knowing windows server wouldn't make you a sysadmin but I guess it does since I manage loads of Linux servers anyways :).
