Stop trying to do better than client expects. Never ends good - no one will appreciate your efforts, and it often creates unnecessary misunderstandings.

    You add some cool feature you think the client will love
    Client: what is this weird thing? Remove it at once! I just told you to copy Facebook. How hard can it be?

    I've been there. Made a website for a customer according to their spec. Then I noticed it was incomplete, so I added a little common sense into the menu. Show and tell them about it and it lead to reverting my addition and they added their style. Did this 3 more times with them and I gave up.

    Our contribution is never appreciated.
