I know this isn't Dev related but some people shouldn't own a PC. If your going to call me to drive half an hour to your house to show you how to open word because you can't take instructions over the phone you shouldn't own a PC.

This is my life right now; walking people through phone support. It's easier with remote access like TeamViewer, but still...

@RiderExMachina She would have to be able to open the internet first to download TeamViewer.

@ElBibao I wish I would have pawns her off on you.

If you and the idiots have latest win 10 take a look at "quick assist" a new program to make tech support way way easier

I'm sorry but it's kind of sad for me to see tech support, which I'm assuming you are to some extent to have to drive to provide tech support, talk about their customers like this. Some people are bad with computers and some downright moronic, but they are still your customers. You have no right to insult them. If they bother you so, don't serve them. End of story. You asking someone with a degree in quantum mechanics a question they would consider trivial is akin to what happened to you today. You aren't a god, you don't know it all.

You're knowledge and skills don't make you a better person, you're actions and attitude could.

I suppose this isn't very related to DevRant either but hey, rants are rants!

    Charge him double!

Stories like this make me wish there was a license to use a computer like there is for cars.

Did you charge the trip and the time?
If yes it's easy money, stop complaining.
If not, next time charge your time and people will stop calling you for basic stuff..
And if they do, at least you get paid.

Do this specially if it's family... Or they will just call you again and again

    @charyas I agree, but...

@Gaetano96 installing a new keyboard on Android takes a lot of getting used to, turns out!

    Lol, it happens

@charyas The whole thing wouldn't have been that bad if she would have just told me everything she needed help doing the first time instead of calling me multiple times to come up there and help her. I had to make the drive 3 times because she thought it would be to much of a bother if she asked the first time even though I offered to teacher her the first time anything she wanted to know.

@icycrash And yet, that's your job and she's your source of income. In a world like ours, biting the hand that feeds you is the quickest way to starve.

@charyas she payed for the first time and with the company I work for they don't charge for all the extra trips that day. So the other 2 trips she got for free.

@icycrash If you're not getting paid for it, and you don't enjoy it, and it's not worth your time at all, then don't go...
